I don't usually put ratings on books I decide not to finish but it's very tempting to hit the 1/2star anyway because, if this hadn't been a Kindle read, it's very likely I'd have thrown this book at the wall. Pretty disappointed at that, too, because it's got a lot going for it. I really like the development of the relationship b/n TJ and his best friend now bf, I totally dug the zombie explanation (seriously so cool) and that Baby Scene (don't want to spoil anything so Baby Scene will have to do) was one of the creepiest, most horrifying, bizarre and awesome things I've read in a book recently. But! But, but, but, f&*king BUT!!!! The female characters are awful. I really kept trying to read (hoping it would change) but by halfway through I was sick and tired, as a female reader, of feeling like crap every time a female character was on the page. In this book GIRL = LIABILITY, GIRL = USELESS, GIRL = PROP, GIRL = LESS USEFUL IN A ZOMBIE APOCALYPSE THAN A GUY WITH A RECENTLY DISLOCATED SHOULDER AND A BROKEN ARM!!!! Are you kidding me? That goes beyond insulting into just plain not realistic. Ugh! I could go on but I'd rather go dig up a better book to read.… (more)
