A very light and easy series. I have mixed feelings about the 'amulet' ... that is to say, is it good that Posey feels brave when she puts on the tutu and takes on the persona of Princess Posey, or is it encouraging superstition and also not really teaching her to have confidence in her very own self?

Maybe I'm just not the target audience, but these are truly getting old already. I do like Posey's extra special princess hat that she makes, though, and I especially like that Gramps helps her with it.

The issues that 6 year-olds have to deal with don't have to be serious to be good learning opportunities. There seem to be a plethora of these books nowadays -- are they responses to Junie B. Jones, loved by kids but not so much by teachers and parents worried about her grammar? I think the [b:Anna Hibiscus|6201557|Anna Hibiscus (Anna Hibiscus, #1)|Atinuke|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1348552114s/6201557.jpg|6382002] series is my favorite (and not just because it's multicultural). But this and Violet Mackerel, Ruby Lu, and Alvin Ho are good, too.

Do you know others to recommend to me? These are quick 'comfort' reads for me, a nice pick-me-up.

I will read more in the series, and copy the bulk of this review into each.

I love that Posey speaks up, that there aren't dramatic secrets in the family like there are all too often in books for older readers. The issues that 6 year-olds have to deal with don't have to be serious to be good learning opportunities.
