2024 movie #102. 1941. The story of a Welsh coal mining town told through the eyes of a young boy. The movie that somehow won Best Picture Oscar the year Citizen Kane was released.

2022 Movie #119. 1947. Young widow (Tierney) moves to a seaside cottage in 1900 to get away from her in-laws. The cottage is haunted by its former owner, Captain Gray (Harrison). Enjoyable romance. An 8-yo Natalie Wood makes an appearance. The b/w cinematography won an Oscar.

A widow is haunted by a sea captain.

2/4 (Indifferent).

The first half is pretty great. The second half is bafflingly awful. What kind of romantic comedy decides halfway through that it's going to try to be a serious melodrama instead? Why would you do that?
