Historical novel dealing with the National Women's Party effort to pass the 19th amendment. Kate Brennan, a well-connected recent college graduate from Colorado, finds herself drawn into the effort to secure the right for women to vote. While I understood that this effort was long and difficult, the details here were eye-opening--women jailed, beaten, and even killed for their efforts. In places the book was a bit didactic, but overall, a good read that imparted lots of information about the fight just a few generations ago to win this important right for women. I always vote, and now I'm even more committed.… (more)

A very good look at the high stakes, and emotions, of that final push for national women's suffrage. Not to mention showing the sacrifices made in the name of one all-consuming cause. The cause was/is worth it, and this novel is a strong showing of what that worthy cause took.
