Milking it... totally unnecessary imo. I do have to admit that I don't know or remember much about the youngest children, the board book audience, though, so it's possible that I'm underappreciating this.

So, we've got the mantra about boughten gifts memorized, and then, at the last moment, we make the perfect gifts at home, from scratch, because we've got mad crafting skills and a supply closet Martha Stewart would admire... and we're expected to put the chant out of our head. I couldn't even tell what all the home-made gifts were, but apparently they were pretty special in those last few pages.

Did not work for me. I think I might be missing a key earlier episode. Good message though, as always, and catchy rhyme.

Some families will love this, and more power to them. Lots of fun, important message, catchy rhyme and rhythm. I will read more in the series as I run across them, even though I am def. not the target audience.
