About the Author

E. Merton Coulter was Regents Professor Emeritus of History at the University of Georgia and editor of the Georgia Historical Quarterly. He was the first president of the Southern Historical Association. Stephen V. Ash is associate professor of history at the University of Tennessee.

Confederate receipt book; a compilation of over one… by E. Merton Coulter

Another [Recipe for Making Bread, &c., from Rice Flour], p. 33; way too much water, therefore too much wheat flour, but good. Pre-commercial yeast recipe, therefore I had to make a "wild" yeast starter from the yeast floating in the kitchen air.

Wormsloe: Two centuries of a Georgia Family… by E. Merton Coulter

Hard to find and as a result an expensive book because of its limited printing. Dry history of the Jones family going through several generations. I learned a lot of things because I have read little on Georgia history before this. What I did learn could have been picked up in most histories of the state. I would only recommend to serious students of Georgia history.
