Still, I liked the simple idea, and I thought the lovely animesque art style complimented it well. Now, the way word bubbles are formatted could leave something to be desired (they are like dialogue-heavy brick walls; there isn’t always punctuation either). There’s some infrequent coarse language, but nothing too mature. The ending is dark, so keep that in mind.
I’m not sure what the takeaway should be from the ending. I don’t think every story needs to have a meaning, but the ending feels abrupt – even if it is meant to be dark/realistic. I almost feel like there was a tonal shift because the beginning was pretty lighthearted Inside Out stuff, then it went edgy. I liked it until the end, but I wouldn’t recommend to anyone currently battling suicidal thoughts/who can’t handle dark imagery.
