10 Mods for Your Next Playthrough of Baldur’s Gate 3

Here are 10 mods to change your Baldur's Gate 3 experience, whether you're looking to clean up the UI, more customization options for your Tav, or even gain access to unimplemented spells to change how you interact with the world.

10 Mods For Your Next Playthrough of Baldur's Gate 3

Baldur’s Gate 3 is a massively impressive RPG. Baldur’s Gate 3 did remarkably well at the Game Awards last year, winning 2023 Game of the Year. Week after week, Baldur’s Gate has continued to experience a high concurrent player count. If you are a part of the Tav’s exploring Baldur’s Gate but are beginning to feel a little bored in Larian’s world, here are some mods for you. If you are looking for some options without resorting to mods, there are plenty of options for you to explore throughout the game. Here are some feats that might interest you. If you’re struggling with a current encounter, you might want to consider your character’s action economy.

Improved UI Release Ready

Improved UI Release Ready has been out since Baldur’s Gate 3 was in early access in September 2022. The mod’s most recent update was released on April 27, 2024. If you’re going to use mods, Improved UI is a great choice, helping to remove those pesky error message boxes that appear thanks to mods not playing well together.

5E Spells

5E Spells is relatively straightforward. 5E Spells is a gameplay mod looking to add a variety of unimplemented spells. Multiple spells in the mod need Norbyte’s Script Extender to work, but you can configure the mod to add certain spells rather than all available. Here are just the cantrips that are re-implemented thanks to 5E Spells.

  • Booming Blade
  • Control
  • Druidcraft
  • Frost Bite
  • Gust
  • Infestation
  • Mold Earth
  • Primal Savagery
  • Shape Water
  • Thunderclap

Tav’s Hair Salon

Baldur’s Gate 3 is a great way to bring your D&D character to life with Baldur’s Gate’s in-depth character creator. But there can always be more choices. Tav’s Hair Salon adds many hairstyles for elves, half-elves, drows, humans, and tieflings.

The mod creator on the page stated the project’s intention wasn’t to replace any of the vanilla hairs in Baldur’s Gate and that the options added would be exclusive to the player rather than any NPC.

Party Limit Begone

This mod is great if you plan on playing multiplayer with over four friends. Party Limit Begone is a mod removing the limiting factors placed by Larian. Now you can travel throughout the Forgotten Realm while getting to know more of the companions Baldur’s Gate 3 has to offer. The party limit is increased to 16 members.

No promise that companions will all get along better. Players might just want to try playing with more friends since the multiplayer limit has been raised to 8 players. This mod does work with pre-existing saves.

Fantastical Multiverse

Fantastical Multiverse is an impressive mod, adding more races in Baldur’s Gate 3 and subraces. Currently, the mod has provided 32 different races featured throughout D&D sourcebooks and other 3rd party homebrew options. So far, the modders have included race options seen in Mordenkainen’s Monster of the Multiverse, Tasha’s Cauldron of Everything, Player’s Handbook, and Unearthed Arcana.

In the most recent update, the modders have tweaked and added options for,

  • Water Genasi
  • Yuan-ti
  • Yuan-ti Pureblood
  • Downcast
  • Drow
  • Pallid Elf
  • Dhampir
  • Reborn

Artificer Class and all Subclasses

If you were sad by the lack of Artificer choices in Baldur’s Gate 3, this is the mod for you. Artificer Class and all Subclasses bring the metal head casters to life in Larian’s world. So grab your tinkering tools. This mod includes level 1-20 abilities and features a new alchemy system for players interested in creating magical tonics.

Show Approval Rating in Dialogue Choices

Show Approval Rating in Dialogue Choices is another straightforward mod for Baldur’s Gate 3 but is invaluable for players looking to maximize character relationships. At the end of your Dialogue choices, you will now see the character’s name in brackets with either and whether you will receive a point or lose one, such as “[Lazel 1] or [Lazel -1]”.

Horns of Faerun

Here is another cosmetic mod not unlike Tav’s Hair Salon mod. Horns of Faerun looks to give players more options for their horned characters. Sadly, Dragonborn characters are the only race not to see any changes in the mod. Horns of Faerun adds new jewelry and dyeable headgear, so make sure to check out the Tutorial chest or have intentions to visit the Druid Den’s trader when you have the chance.

Feats Extra

The Feats Extra mod does require Norbyte’s Script Extender and 5E Spells mod because some fey/shadows touched feats available need access to unimplemented spells in Baldur’s Gate 3. Here are a few of the feats added as of version 1.55.

  • Artificer Initiate
  • Fey Touched
  • Gift of Metallic Dragon
  • Healer
  • Inspiring Leader
  • Metamagic Adept
  • Telekinetic
  • Wood Elf Magic

Better Containers

Finally, Better Containers. Better Containers increases the default size of containers and their grids. This mod is filled with QoL features, making going through your inventory less hassle.

With this mod, you will instantly gain access to your new default grid-sized 6×7. Players also receive the ability to change the container grid to 5×5 or 8×9. This is honestly a mod that will stay in the background of Baldur’s Gate 3, but will just make every moment interacting with containers a little bit more efficient.

All of these mods are provided through Nexus Mods. If none of these mods are to your liking, I’m sure you can find whatever you’re looking for when modding Baldur’s Gate 3 on Nexus.
