Dragons are majestic mythical creatures which have returned to Skyrim and are wreaking havoc wherever they cast their deadly gaze. While you might see them flying around, you won't actually fight/battle your first dragon until Dragon Rising.

Afterwards, dragons can swoop in at any time during your travels through the land of Skyrim. Take note that the ferocity of the dragon can vary according to your level. Dragons vary in strength, with brown and green colored dragons being far easier to take down than their white or bronze cousins. Named dragons tend to be even stronger. However sometimes it is hard to tell which dragon is which when it first comes swooping over your head. Dragons, are the weakest, breathing fire which does little damage to a well skilled character. The blood dragon is stronger, so be prepared to use your healing power when fighting one, and then the frost dragon is the strongest. Not only does its icy breath drain your health the quickest, it also drains your stamina. Those are the three most likely dragons you are going to see on your travels. My advice? Bring a friend.
