it was amazing
I ran into someone who was going to try Faulkner for the first time and thought they would start with S&F, and I discouraged them, saying As I Lay Dying or Light in August might be better. However, I am ambivalent about those recommendations since S&F was written early in Faulkner's career and shows the stream-of-consciousness obsession he held better than probably any book he wrote.
