The Quiche of Death by M.C. Beaton

Jayaprakash’s first review of the year

it was ok
I didn't dislike this at all, but it isn't nearly as funny as the title might suggest, there's some iffy stuff re: race and sexuality, and the middle really sags. Good for what it is - a cozy mystery with a bit of a fish out of water element, as the PR whizz Agatha Raisin moves to a village in the Cotswolds. ...more

Grimoire Noir by Vera Greentea

Jayaprakash’s last review of the year

liked it
Enjoyable enough, with excellent art but weirdly winds up backing into vindicating the witch trials. The best spooky ideas are brushed past, characters are 2D, story safe. The best moments are usually not supernatural, which is disappointing because it's actually very possible to integrate eeriness and character based moments. ...more
