"It's clear that Maas is redirecting Feyre's love from Tamlin towards a new love interest. To achieve this, she constantly depicts Tamlin as incapable of fulfilling Feyre's needs. However, this portrayal feels forced and contrived. Is it truly in line with the character's nature, or is the author manipulating his actions to fit her desired plot? The plot should be influenced by the characters, not vice versa." Feb 04, 2024 11:19PM

"Okay, I was not prepared for the gender related microaggressions in Percy Jackson of all places? Several male characters spying on a group of women with a noted dislike / fear of men and boys, male characters following a group of women who have explicitly stated they don't want men or boys around them, and the children of Aphrodite being vain and self-obsessed. Gross!" Feb 01, 2024 02:52PM

Jandy Nelson
“This is what I want: I want to grab my brother's hand and run back through time, losing years like coats falling from our shoulders.”

Michael Ende
“If you have never wept bitter tears because a wonderful story has come to an end and you must take your leave of the characters with whom you have shared so many adventures, whom you have loved and admired, for whom you have hoped and feared, and without whose company life seems empty and meaningless.

If such things have not been part of your own experience, you probably won't understand what Bastian did next.”
Michael Ende, The Neverending Story

Jeffrey Eugenides
“Basically what we have here is a dreamer. Somebody out of touch with reality. When she jumped, she probably thought she'd fly”
Jeffrey Eugenides, The Virgin Suicides

Neil Gaiman
“We who make stories know that we tell lies for a living. But they are good lies that say true things, and we owe it to our readers to build them as best we can. Because somewhere out there is someone who needs that story. Someone who will grow up with a different landscape, who without that story will be a different person. And who with that story may have hope, or wisdom, or kindness, or comfort. And that is why we write.”
Neil Gaiman, The Graveyard Book

F. Scott Fitzgerald
“Here was a new generation, shouting the old cries, learning the old creeds, through a revery of long days and nights; destined finally to go out into that dirty gray turmoil to follow love and pride; a new generation dedicated more than the last to the fear of poverty and the worship of success; grown up to find all Gods dead, all wars fought, all faiths in man shaken...”
