Stacia Leigh grew up in Montana's Flathead Valley and knows a thing or two about driving a stick and chasing chickens. She currently resides in the PNW with a couple of cherrier rescue mutts, two artists, and one very skilled computer nerd.

She won first place in the 2022 PNWA Literary Contest for the short story category, second place in 2013 for children's chapter, and finalist in 2015, 2016, 2017 and 2022 for young adult and middle grade. Her debut novel, Dealing with Blue, was also a finalist for the 2016 Nancy Pearl Book Award.

She enjoys writing what she loves to read, a flirty romance that's light on the angst and heavy on the fun.

If I stall out while writing, I try a couple different things:
1.) Change the scene into another character's perspective. What are their motives? Where do they take the story?
2.) Write some backstory on the side to help me understand history and motivations.
3.) Sleep with the story questions on my mind and, fingers crossed, wake up with some clarity.
4.) Read about writing.
5.) Write right through it.(less)

Add a sequence...this goes here, that goes there. Change things around to find the right fit. It's like a puzzle. Click the pieces together and a story happens. Set aside the border pieces, find the pattern, and discover another world. Keep building! It's very satisfying to see it all come together.(less)

Third Place!

PNWA Literary Contest Winner!Young Adult
I'm on the big screen! I won third place in the young adult category for my unpublished Christmas romance last weekend. Also up there is my dog, Tilly Bean, who loves the camera more than I do. Not a very professional picture you might say, but not to worry! A long-overdue update is on deck 😉 📷🌟

“By the way, isn't zest a wonderful word? In our careful world, 'feeling just OK' seems to be the new normal. I want zest, dammit. Zest, joy, and ferocious awareness.”

“I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.”
