Ocotillo Arts Press publishes my work and some others -- a list comprising science fiction, crime fiction, literary novels, memoirs, a book on the detective as a cultural icon, and many small works downloadable for free.

I began as a novelist and writer of short stories and published two books and some 25 stories in those years. In the mid-90s I turned to making handmade books in editions of one or two, using my own writings, art, paper, design, printing, and binding. On 2001 after 50 years

When my work is on the table at a writers’ group meeting the first question I hear from young writers who still need to be propped up is the old shibboleth “Who’s your audience?” To this I say, if I’m in a certain mood, that I don’t know. It annoys people when someone flouts the rules. If I feel more forgiving I will say also that it’s not my business to find my audience but to create it. To annoy

Really it is quite nice to hear in this direct way other readers' responses to books I like. In the case of this book I was responding to the sadness of aging and marginalization, but then there's all that Go technical stuff and it may be thought kind of slow. Good to hear from you.

aPriL does feral sometimes Thought I'd give you a heads up - some time ago you recommended 'The Master of Go' to me, and you rated it 5 stars. Well. Thank you for bringing it to my attention and I'm glad to have read it. However, I did not enjoy it. But I didn't want you to feel it was 'about you.' Please do not hesitate to recommend other books to me. : )

Charles And I yours. You're keeping me honest. I notice we share a few books, some of my particular favorites.
