Natalie Vellacott spent a decade as a police officer in England before swapping her badge for a Bible and heading for Southeast Asia as a Christian missionary. She volunteered on Logos Hope, a giant ship, for 2 years with 400 people from 65 other countries enduring the cultural catastrophes in order to enjoy the exciting adventures.

Natalie began writing in the Philippines when she fell in love with a group of street children addicted to a solvent called Rugby. Having founded a charity to help the boys and draw attention to their plight, she naively entitled her first book and has been trying to get it out of the Rugby Union chart ever since.

Natalie has also dabbled in Christian fiction for children, in the choose your own adventure style,

I enjoyed my job as a police officer and didn't want to leave. I applied for many other jobs praying that God would lead me but didn't get anywhere. I didn't want to leave the UK or rely on others for financial support so long-term mission work wasn't an option although I had been involved in local evangelism and short term missions. Gradually God showed me that my attitude was wrong. The door opened for me to join the Logos Hope Missionary Ship in 2011, all other doors closed. In 2012 the ship visited the Philippines and ended up staying there for a very long time due to mechanical problems. I went on shore and met and began to befriend the street teens abusing solvents. I sensed at this stage that God wanted me to return after my ship commitment as I had developed a heart for the country and people. I went back in December 2013...(less)

Christian Conferences....to Go or Not to Go

In the past, I wasn’t a big fan of conferences, Christian or otherwise, probably because I saw them as being a bit like committees; places where people gather to talk and even enthuse about the work that other people are doing. I saw them as a bit of a waste of time as I wanted to get on with the task.

However, I’ve since learned the value of some conferences as well as the more obvious point

“If I firmly believed, as millions say they do, that the knowledge of a practice of religion in this life influences destiny in another, then religion would mean to me everything. I would cast away earthly enjoyments as dross, earthly thoughts and feelings as vanity. Religion would be my first waking thought and my last image before sleep sank me into unconsciousness. I should labor in its cause alone. I would take thought for the marrow of eternity alone. I would esteem one soul gained for heaven worth a life of suffering. Earthly consequences would never stay in my head or seal my lips. Earth, its joys and its griefs, would occupy no moment of my thoughts. I would strive to look upon eternity alone, and on the immortal souls around me, soon to be everlastingly happy or everlastingly miserable. I would go forth to the world and preach to it in season and out of season. and my text would be, "What shall it profit a man if he gains the whole world and loses his own soul”
Norman Grubb

Hi, I'm really sorry but I don't generally take private review requests as I just get too many of them. Blessings Natalie

Hi Angela, I did enjoy your book. I'm a little surprised that you weren't aware of the blasphemy--you write as if it was a surprise to you or as if the characters themselves decided what to write! Please don't blame your decision to include blasphemy on the characters that you created ....You could always remove it if you are really disappointed by it...I would happily amend my review if you choose to do so....Blessings

Angela Joseph Hi Natalie,
Thanks for your thorough review of my book Coming Out of Egypt. I do appreciate your honest opinion, but I am disappointed that you found some blasphemy. I don't recall any, but if there is, I can only accredit it to either a character's ignorance about God or his/her anger at God.
