When Allyson entered the fourth grade, she decided to start writing, having one of her best friends edit her stories. The summer after freshman year in high school, her cousin begged her to start again on one of her stories. Because of her enthusiasm, Allyson got started again on Casting My Heart, her first official novel.

She survived high school and college by reading and writing in between classes and during long lunch periods. She earned the "Literary Luminary Award" for her class, which she lovingly calls "my bookworm award."

Allyson has a Bachelor's of Arts in English and a Bachelor's of Science in Information Technology from Indiana University Purdue University of Fort Wayne (IPFW).

Most of the time, I tell myself to "just write them there as quickly as possible". This seems to work for me. Then, later, I will go back and add details. There are times, however, that this doesn't work, so I usually put down my writing and pick up a book to read. Sometimes the best thing to do is to distract myself, putting myself in a different world for a while before I can enter back fully into my book's plot.(less)

Then it hit me: I love "Harry Potter" by J.K. Rowling, so why not write a story about wizards? And then my main character, Cassie, didn't want to stay human either. (less)

Meg Cabot
“Clearly," Jason said, "you are not doing nothing. You are most definitely doing something. What it looks like you're doing is pouring packets of sugar on Lauren Moffat's head."

Shhh," I said. "It's snowing. But only on Lauren." I shook more sugar out of the packets. "'Merry Christmas, Mr. Potter,'" I called softly down to Lauren in my best Jimmy Stewart imitation. "'Merry Christmas, you old building and Loan.'"

Jason started cracking up, and I had to hush him as Becca saw my sugar supply running low and hastened to hand me more packets.

Stop laughing so loud," I said to Jason. "You'll spoil this beautiful moment for them." I sprinkled more sugar over the side of the balcony. "'Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good night.”
