This SLOW building character-driven story of a disastrous BBQ truly tested my intestinal fortitude, but I stuck it out, and once I made it to the half-way point (whew!) when the (ho hum) proposal is finally made, the first shocking twist occurred tempting me to stay with it and discover what would happen next.
TRULY MADLY GUILTY is a story that entices the reader in Chapter 1 to find out what really happened at an innocent neighborhood BBQ, but when Chapter 2 begins, a SLOW progression detailing the inside scoop on three couples and their everyday, repetitive family lives left me feeling somewhat frustrated, but..... then the second heartbreaking twist occurs pulling me back in yet again convincing me I surely now had all the 'BBQ Day' answers; but nope, there was yet another (somewhat predictable) piece to the puzzle still to uncover.
Overall, an ok read, with ok characters, and an ok story with surprises, tense moments and even a bit of humor, but it does take a long time to get there.

Pretty accurate review. I've made it to the proposal, but not what happened during the BBQ yet...just slow going, but I loved Moriarty's other books so I'm sticking it out.

Slow is an understatement. I her complaining to my family that I can't believe I am STILL reading this book. It is like treading water.

I agree, build up was so slow! I enjoyed Big Little Lies too
I agree! It was a very slow build up but I couldn't put it down because I had to know what happened!

Yes slow build up, not my favorite of hers. still trudging thru it, it's slowly peaking my interest. wish I cared about the characters

I have heard similar comments about this book from several people, Carol. I think it'll be pushed farther down the TBR list.

I agree. I love Liane Moriarty, but this one was too slow and boring.

More than half way through. Better but still SLOW.
Definitely more than halfway. I love Liane and that's why I stuck with it, but man was it slow! I feel like there were storylines that were super random and didn't resolve. Anyone else?
