With the last book a little bit of Duncan went a long way. I expect much the same from this book, but that didn't happen. I think a big part of that was because for most of the book Duncan was isolated from his family and his team due to a choice he made to save Random. I think it was the right choice, even with how things played out in the end. Duncan managed to find out a lot about himself, making himself stronger and knowing his limits. It was also a good choice in the big picture of things as a bad man got put out of the way, allowing another team the chance to thrive. I do like how this one ended, liked that Duncan was back home where he belonged and how he realized what he learned to do while he was away he had already been doing that, he just didn't know.
On a side note, I have to say that I LOVE, LOVE, Duncan's parents. I love how they both baby and not Duncan and how they treat Random just as they do Duncan. These two adults are why Duncan and Random are strong men and why their bond is so great!
