You know what I loved about this book?
EVERYTHING
- the swoony romance (so many kisses!)
- the dual POV (complex MCs, unique voices)
- the courtroom drama
- the political intrigue (who hired a sniper to shoot at the Russian president - and kill three American Secret Service agents - on the steps of the White House?)
- the suspense (I was so into this story, my stomach was legit cramping toward the end. Those snakes OMG)
- the HEA (I wanted an epilogue for Tom and Mike so damn bad, not because I doubted their love but because I'm greedy for more)
- Etta Mae the Bassett Hound! (I always worry about dogs in books, like where is the dog, did the dog get walked, is the dog all alone?? I didn't have to do that here, because Etta Mae was important and always accounted for. Tom took such good care of her.)
You know what I hated about this book?
It ended.
And now I have a book hangover for the ages.

The book hangover is real though.

You do! I just started reading Bauer this year (why, oh why, did I wait so long?), and his talent has blown me away. Hush is one of my favorites.

Hope you've got Whisper lined up in your TB queue Dani...it'll break you 😟. Hush & Whisper are my 2 faves of his.

Now that I know it's Kris's and his mysterious husband's story, Whisper jumped to the top of my list. I'm beyond excited!

He's a genuinely brilliant writer imho, there hasn't been one of his books that I've not walked away in awe from his pure talent at storytelling.
I've loved most of Bauer's books but keep stalling with Whisper because it's narrated by John Solo, whose narration I detest. But after seeing how some of you are gushing over Whisper I'm determined to overcome my dislike of Solo and do the book!
..but it's 25 hours long! Gawd. 25 hours of Solo

Agreed. Tal is so talented. He writes what he knows, and he knows a great deal about many, many things, so his books never feel formulaic.
I could kick myself for waiting so long to read his work, but at least now I can binge read his stories with impunity.

Do you always do audio books? I'm hard of hearing, so I never do audio, but I know people love audio books and have their favorite narrators.
25 hours with a narrator you hate might prove torturous, though. I don't blame you for stalling on that one.

Yes, I only do audio these days. I like being able to listen and play games on my phone at the same time...or other stuff, depending if I'm listening to something sexy or not.
