Even though I've read some of Measha Stone's books previously, I'm still not on solid ground as far as her world-building or character development. Her new release 'Sacred Vows' is a Mafia Romance with touches of domestic discipline and BDSM scenes which always catches my attention. In this one, we have Isolde, aka Izzy, and Andrei's story. Seven years ago Izzy's brother was killed by a rival gang and unfortunately, Izzy was witness to something that happened. Her brother's best friend, Andrei, gave his solemn oath to her brother before he died to protect Izzy. That's why he made them leave Chicago and sent them to Nebraska. Now she's back and she wants answers. She has no memory of how or why her brother died and, in her mind, once she has that information she'll have all her memories back and can go on with her life. Little does she know it's much more complicated than that. He's overprotective and she's headstrong and independent. Can you say clash much? But the tension is explosive when mixed with the chemistry these two have for each other. They have to get through the drama and danger of everything in their path. It was a good story and I'm hoping this turns into a series.
