i’m not particularly fond of Jennifer Hartmann’s romances, but i keep trying, because i like that that she at least tries to be more original than the run of the mill ‘fake dating alpha ceo billionaire marriage of convenience’ books that keep getting spit out. not saying that An Optimist Guide to Heartbreak is the most unique story, it’s really not, but i liked that i didn’t read this story 300 times before. yes, the bar is that low.

Things that make us sad aren’t all bad.
Sometimes, sad things serve as a gentle reminder that we still feel.

begging authors to stop making ‘sunshine’-characters only loving the color yellow like it’s their only personality trait and word vomiting. Lucy Hope (yes that’s her last name i’m not kidding) was a bit too QuIrKy. i like sunshine characters, but moderate sunshine characters that have an optimistic outlook of the world, not whatever Lucy tried to portray. my theory for why Lucy is dying is that it’s just karma getting back at her for naming her dogs Key Lime Pie and Lemon Meringue 💀💀💀

all in all not very memorable cuz i read this in january and now i don't remember all that much about it

message 2: by lila ⋆ (new)

lila ⋆ agreed with everything you just said 😭 & the second book was even worse 💀

Phuong ✯ @Ren - so far my fav book by this author is June First! that one was cute, but yes 100% agree Still Beating was so bad and i don't understand the high ratings for that book at all

Phuong ✯ @Lila - i've been stuck at 20% of the second book since it came out lmao that already tells me how bad it is

Lau ♡ this is the reason why I'm afraid of the word 'sunshine character'. Some authors love to bring it to the next level so much that now the real 'sunshine' characters feel like moonlight next to them LOL I'm so sorry Lucy was one of those Hope you find an unique book that gives you something more than just a plot you haven't read yet *crosses fingers* 💛

Mila (Semi-Hiatus) These names are sending me😂😂💀💀

EmBibliophile Lol that must be karma indeed!! I don’t know why but her books intimidate me, I’m afraid to read them. Like they’re so hyped and I’m scared I won’t like them.😂 and yessss sunshine characters should be done in moderation for our sanity!! xx

Phuong ✯ @Lau - i don't understand why some authors write 'sunshine' characters in such an extreme way why can't they stop 💀 thanks bb <3

Phuong ✯ @Mila – they are horrible 💀💀💀

Phuong ✯ @Em - you will either love them or hate them lmao can't wait to see in which category you belong to (especially Still Beating)
