Double Pucked (My Hockey Romance, #1)

Okay so this is partially my fault, but I didn’t expect this book to be what it was.
I have two rules. I don’t DNF and I don’t read blurbs. I legit just judge a book by its genre, cover and the stars of its reviews. I like to go in blindly so I don’t have any expectations.
Well, I didn’t know what this book was about before I read it. From the cover of this book, I just thought it was a sappy romance that involved a girl falling for two guys and having to choose which one to go for. Except that kinda wasn’t the case. I know hockey romance books are a little spicy - and believe me I’m not a prude, I can read a sexy lil chapter; I appreciate them. However, this was ALOTTT. I like when spicy chapters are BALANCED with plot. But, this book was just all spice and hardly any plot. Just very dull and all the effort was put in to describing the spicy scenes. Like, this book is legitimate 🌽… I’m not joking. This was like more descriptive than Haunting Adeline - accept haunting Adeline was done well and this one was weird.
The book is practically a corn book involving threesomes…. And then it is about exploring polyamory. I would not be mad at the spicy scenes if there was an adequate plot to go with it. I can appreciate a good spicy scene. But it was so boring and was ALLLLLLLLLL sex. Like - pls learn how to balance a good story line and sex scenes - or else, just make corn at this point.
Also, a lot of the writing was kinda cringe. It was very teeny bopper plot - it just gave me 12vie vibes. But also, I would not let a 12vie read corn so I don’t really know what age demographic they were trying to appeal to. Like calling her “the book babe” is so lame and cringe and I just can’t.
So sorry for the brutal review, but this just was not my style.
