When I start reading this book, I found that her writing style is tasteful and imaginative.
One day, Yeong-hye decided to become a vegetarian when she woke up. She had a dream!
"The Vegetarian" is talking about the complexities of personal identity and the sacrifices we make.
The novel also mentions on mental health and its effects on individuals and relationships.
Some of the contents in this book are explicit and disturbing and not suitable for young readers.
Can we challenge our norms of living? Not that easy, I think.
Maybe it conceals and camouflages a lot of hidden messages inside this novel. I don't know.

Glad you enjoyed this one Liong! It is one of my favorite contemporary titles, I read it as soon as I heard it won the International Booker Prize Award. I hope to read more of Han Kang's titles in the near future, especially those like this one related to the emancipation of women. Happy Reading to you always! :)

Thank you for the short but insightful review on this book, Liong!! It‘s been sitting on my TBR and physical book shelves for a while now. Seems like it‘s a quite grotesque book and that‘s exactly what I enjoy reading. Sometimes I like being disturbed by the content hahah! Either way, you motivated and pushed me to move it up by a few positions in my reading list!
