Wait, I'm sorry, WHAT? Atwood, R.L. Stine, Nora Roberts, Celeste Ng, Neil Gaiman, David Byrne from the Talking Heads, the Magic Treehouse lady and the author of Sex in the City (with many many more that you would never expect together) all writing different characters in one novel!? Pre-ordered this SO hard. What was this group-chat like?
Also why are there so many one-star ratings of a book that ARCs doen't even exist of yet?

RIGHT!?

Cecily Wow. I suspect a fly-on-the-wall documentary of the making might be better than the book itself. (I hope I'm wrong.)

Cecily I wonder if it tells you who wrote which character, or if you have to guess? (I vaguely remember a friend reviewing a collaborative book and being infuriated at not knowing, and not even having the answers lurking in a postscript.)

Right!? I want to see these people interact haha. But the more Im trying to find out the more I think it might just be a story anthology that crosses over? Not entirely sure. Also depending on where I look the publication date changes. Heading to my bookstore night shift in a moment and ordering it there so hopefully that will have a reliable date.

Laura Rogers It's so great to have GR's friends who work in bookstores!

It is handy haha! Alas, I still have no clear date. It is showing a large print edition for May 2023 but no hardcover or audiobook until Feb 2024. Which makes no sense. Especially when the publisher website shows June 2024 haha. So apparently it is happening, but nobody knows when and I'm doubting the May 2023 date despite my library job having it currently in the On Order for May queue (which is how my coworker discovered this even existed and they immediately came to find me haha)

Jaclyn This sounds wild. I'm not sure who i'm more excited about, but I think (hot take?) it's got to be the 'magic tree house lady'. Those books were definitely one of my entries into loving books

That is so special and fun to be able to share that with your child. Hopefully they adore it and catch the reading bug too! :)

So far so good, spent the whole evening making a "magic treehouse" out of cardboard boxes and now she insists our names are Jack and Annie, so I think it's catching on!

Heather There’s an NPR article about this book.

Violet G Just read the book and give it a 5 star rating!!! Simply, because we've got this novel that's been written by 36 authors and it works! It's an unusual idea but brilliant. I enjoyed having a taste of each authors style of writing and yet the book flowed. It didn't feel disjointed at all. I highly recommend this book.

Sheri Anne I just finished it and loved it. Not sure why the reviews are so bad? Could it be politics playing yet again in literature and film???
