I gave the author the benefit of the doubt. I was confused by some of the writing. I thought maybe it was me since I sometimes have a hard time following high fantasy and writing similar. As I came to the end of the story I found out the author combined two books so I figure that might be part of my trouble. I do think there is instances where some detail comes in and is never explained which throws me out of the story.

Even with that though I enjoyed the story. Not as much as I might have hoped but still it was fun. I think I will in time try the other books in the series in the hopes they are a better fit for me.
