really liked it
bookshelves: brit-lit, cover-me-blue, historical-fiction, 2022-read, 4-star

There was a part after Hamnet died, when Shakespeare (who is never named) returns from almost a year in London, that was so tender it brought tears to my eyes. For most of this book I was not very emotionally involved, but towards the end there was a real increase in intensity for me that bumped this up to 4 stars.

Margaret M - (trying to catch up. It doesn't help that email notifications have been removed I am glad you liked the best part 😀 I adored this story. It was one of my favourite books last year. Great comments Kelly ❤️

Kelly Thanks, Margaret! I have had a few misses with Maggie O'Farrell, however I'm glad I read this one. It is very, very different in style and tone than her other books.
