it was ok

A huge disappointment. I loved The Silence of the Girls so I had high expectations of this one.The writing´s still beautiful, although some anachronistic idioms jar, but beautiful writing isn´t enough to carry a book. No sense of direction-won´t speak of plot here-, repetitive.
A pity.

Beata I'm sorry this book didn't live up to your expectations, Paula. It's on my list ...

Victoria Summed up my feelings well, especially regarding the anachronisms. Seemed like they were everywhere.

I'mogén I was disappointed as well!

Anna the Godkiller Thank you for mentioning the anachronisms! These characters all have such a distinctly British voice, which I have found so strange. I didn’t notice it as much in the first book but it’s everywhere in this one. Someone received a “bollocking” and it just threw me right out of the story.

Same thing happened to me...
