Kristy I love this series. Brother Cadfael is such a fantastic character. I really enjoy the medieval setting, and his more modern views compared to that of his superiors contrast nicely. It's a good thing he has some higher ups in his corner.
There is some story development over the course of the series, but I'm not sure if it is essential to read them in order. Im obsessive about reading series's in order, so I'm not always the best to ask. I will always say yes.

Thanks, Kristy, you remind me I wanted to pick up another in this series. It really was quite entertaining and the atmosphere/locale so different from what's normally in my reading pile.
