ARC review >> (view spoiler)
It’s not all spoilers, but the more I look at the more I’m not feeling my review. I’ll redo it(probably a complete redo honestly) once I’ve read the published edition.

** This arc was provided by NetGalley UK in exchange for an honest review. WYF is one of my top 2 most anticipated reads this year, so truly thank you. **

Aoife - Bookish_Babbling CANNOT WAIT to see what CL does with MoC - also did not see this coming in any way shape or form 🙃 😎

Right? As soon as I read it, I was like ‘what now? 🤨’. Like I trust CL(& I like the trope), but from the small teases we have, it never crossed my mind. Ax is so stubborn, I suppose it’s possible he may have never made a big move without something like a MoC. 🙃😂

Tears Of Venus what's MoC? 🙈

Tears Of Venus ooh marriage of convenience?

Yep, that’s the one 😊.

preoccupiedbybooks Cannot wait! I'm sure Chloe will handle IBD with the utmost care, and she is the queen of inclusivity! I have friends with this disease, who have found love, so it's awesome to get to see them represented in a romance! Also MoC-wtf?! How?🤣

Love how she is so inclusive!

Oh absolutely, I trust CL 1000% to work it out. No put down, just never considered it in a steamy book 🙃.

Right? MoC for these two never crossed. I’m fan of a good MoC, but I’m still wrapping my mind around it. I know it’ll be good. Just processing.

Right?! 😂 😂 😂 I need this book like last week. She said arcs will be through NetGalley only I think. I got figure out how that works. I had THE worst book envy with all the arc reviews of the last one in my feed 🙈🤭. I don’t think I’d do well with that again for Ax & Roooney.

Aoife - Bookish_Babbling Bahahaha, I'm too afraid of requesting ARCs because I know my messed up brain will make me feel like "homework" and I'll lowkey resent them before too long...so shall wait with building anticipation 🙃

I've also been trying to guess at what might be coming down the pipeline with the younger three..but am going to stop that now as MoC & IBD never entered my imaginings for A+R so I'm just going to sit back and continue to bask in the glorious stories CL puts out for us while trying to rein in the obsessing 🤗
(but like, only a little - cos honestly am pretty sure I'm a lost cause when it comes to #BergmanBrood)

Rozberry🍓 Aoife - most of the time I’m totally the same & don’t even bother trying to get any, especially when some arcs are barely given out ahead of time. Like I’m so not the fastest reader to begin with, so I definitely don’t need that pressure. This is one of the few times I’d make an exception & deal if I do get my hands on one.

Yeah, I’m like still processing MoC. I’m into the trope, but I’m just trying to wrap my head around why this is even a possibility for them specifically.

As for the youngest 3, - storywise - I never knew where to start guessing for them. Between the man cubs, still don’t feel like I know anything more than Viggo is a romance enthusiast & a little pushy. Beyond that as all 3 are so young, the only thing I’m figuring on is Viggo is probably next since he’s older than the 2.

message 12: by Aoife - Bookish_Babbling (last edited Mar 31, 2021 01:57AM) (new) - rated it 5 stars

Aoife - Bookish_Babbling Just had a thought for MoC...(view spoiler)? 🤔

Will keep everything crossed for your ARC quest 🤞🤞🤞🤞

I'm not sure how young the others still are, guess it'll depend how quickly this book will take place after Freya's. I think both ManCubs are in their early 20s(?), rereading Ren's book Viggo is mentioned as being a jack of all trades as he searches for what he wants to do and I'm pretty sure it's been mentioned somewhere that Olly is attending UCLA too? Ziggy is still in HS, but maybe finishing up soon ... is it wrong to hope there might be a few time jumps to age everyone up a little for their stories although I do not know how much time is passing between books 🤷
Book1 took +/- a year and then the epilogue skipped to their graduation/a year later. Not sure what the time frame between Ren & Freya's books are, but I would guess not too far apart seeing as they kind of overlap before the ending of Ren & Frankie's...couple of months maybe?
I do also wonder if Frankie being in lawschool & it also being mentioned that Rooney wanted to be a lawyer will overlap in any way. I imagine we're sure to get a few Willa & Ryder cameos seeing as they also live in Washington like Axel...ack, I need to stop pondering as it's only March and we have a while to wait yet. Although it could be fun to look back in Sept and see just how wrong I am/was lolz
STFU now, 🙊 🤐, promise

Rozberry🍓 Aoife 😲! I think you’re on to something! (view spoiler)

Going off Ziggy, I feel like she hasn’t aged much, but I’m really not sure either. I haven’t figured out how much post grad Willa & Ryder are in AOY & EAA. If that could be pinpoint, then it would be a lot easier to estimate Viggo & Oliver’s ages. Yeah, Oliver does go to UCLA, but I have no clue what year he’s in or if he was still in school at all in EAA.
I hope there’s not a time jump from EAA to this one, but after that, (for book 5) I wouldn’t mind a little bit of a time jump & then maybe some more in between that & the ones that followed.
I’m stoked for Rooney & Axel’s romance alone, but Ryder & Willa living in the same state as Axel & Willa being Rooney’s bestie is just icing on the cake 🥰. So I imagine we’ll get a better peek at their life together.
No worries. I’m kinda obsessed too...just a little 😜.

Aoife - Bookish_Babbling From having recently reread/listened to the first two books for the first time - I got the impression Ziggy & Ollie were much younger in Ryder's book as they were playing football in the house with a soft ball. Or at least, perhaps Ziggy hadn't been diagnosed at that point, or rather maybe CL's storylines/the family grew more in her mind as the Axel we met in the first book & the Axel we see a bit more off in the latter 2 books are pretty different representations.
Having just finished AOY I think it was mentioned that Ollie is studying to be a doctor so he could be in school for a while, or at least it is mentioned that one of Ren's brothers is studying to be a doctor and seeing as Viggo plays a slightly larger role in their book and his not being in "mainstream" school is mentioned as he is pursuing a culinary dream I think(?) I'm guessing Oliver is the one hoping to become a doctor.

I'm all for a similar timeframe for the next book and 100% would be down for some time jumps to the next three - but honestly I have complete faith in CL and cannot wait to see what she does with everyone's story and lowkey am still hoping mama & Dr B might get a novella or some short stories for us to catch up on some of their highlights as I also LOFF THEM! 🙈🥰

message 15: by Rozberry🍓 (last edited Apr 19, 2021 03:14PM) (new) - rated it 4 stars

Rozberry🍓 Aoife - Oops, I didn’t get a notification for your last reply 🙈. Dumdum GlitchReads is at it again. (& now I had site error erasing my kinda long reply before I was done 🤦‍♀️)

That’s true. Ziggy must’ve been diagnosed between OWIU & AOY. I imagine they did evolve in CL’s mind, so it’s probably a combination.

Ooooh, I completely forgot Oliver’s major (I think your conclusion it’s Oliver is more than likely correct). So depending on how the timeline goes, he could be in school most of the series, if not the whole series. Maybe when he’s an intern he’ll fall for his attending physician 😉😂. Although if one of the mancubs falls for an older woman, I feel it more likely be Viggo.

After that game night, I can’t imagine good cause to delay Axel & Rooney more than short time(like months maybe) to finally get their real start at getting together.
Right? I’m so on board, because there’s very little CL could do that I wouldn’t be all in for(which I can’t see her ever writing anything that would be a no-no for me). Me too! I think I might’ve mentioned it before, but I’d especially love a novella that covers how Elin & Dr. B met & the four days snowed in that followed. Elin is so cool, calm & collected, so I’m all in for reading the play by play of how Dr. B got under her skin so badly in those first few days.

Aoife - Bookish_Babbling Oh no Evil GlitchReads!!!
All incoming comment notifications seem to be on an 8hr+ delay as well...but I guess at least we are getting them 🙈

I know we keep going in circles with how weak we both are for any and all BergmanBrood content 🤭
I think you're right & the next book should be close enough to those we've already read 🤞
I too am lowkey hoping for an office romance for Oliver, I've no idea what to imagine for Viggo lolz - that boy is delightfully un-pinnable, who knows what he'll get up to next hahaha

I'm 100% with you and have utter faith in CL's storytelling, she threw us a complete curveball with A&R so I am not even attempting to guess anymore 😈 😇

OMG the cover!
LOVE purple 💜💜💜💜 also pets...I see pets! 🤩

message 17: by Rozberry🍓 (last edited Apr 20, 2021 12:35PM) (new) - rated it 4 stars

Rozberry🍓 Yeah, that’s been really weird. It’s almost funny when one comes in & I’ve already replied hours ago.

We so do 😂. We are in need of our new fix like yesterday, dang it 😂🤣😂.

Now that the idea of Oliver being a doctor is planted, that’s why the Grey’s thing is in my head for him being an intern falling for an attending. But honestly, again I still take pretty much whatever CL has in mind.
Yeah, other than he’s a bit pushy & a romance fan, I have no idea really what expect the setting to be for Viggo. All the emphasis on his romantic side though in EAA is why I could see him wanting an older woman.
Who knows really. I’m just figuratively spitballing.

It’s so true! She really did & now I’ll shut it 🙊.

Right? Like I said above, I think it might be my favorite cover.

Aoife - Bookish_Babbling Nooooooo please don't shut it, I love disecting all things Bergman with you 😁 😆

Rozberry🍓 😂😂😂 Aw, thanks...& samesies 😉.
Idk if I have anything else in mind to speculate about the man cubs or Ziggy atm. Ziggy seems so smack in the middle of adjusting to her diagnosis, that I don’t even know what direction to make a guess about what her future book will be about when she’s older. The only thought I have is so it doesn’t feel like a part 2 of Frankie & Ren, that Ziggy’s guy maybe shouldn’t be an obvious cinnamon roll like Ren. Other than that I got nothing 🤷‍♀️😂.

Aoife - Bookish_Babbling I'm drawing blanks too 😕
Maybe this means we need to reread again and focus on the siblings this time 😉😈

Also Ziggy loves reading so much maybe she'll find someone to bond with over books in a fandom or something 🤔
(yeah so that may be inspired by my current read rofl)

I had thoughts for Viggo & Oliver while reading Freya's book, V moreso than O (as we saw more of V in Ren & Frankie's book too so we have a smidge more to go off of for him) - but I haven't reread EEA yet so maybe once I do I'll be restruck with inspo 😝

Rozberry🍓 Ack! Can I mentioned again how much I hate GR delayed comment notifications or no notifications?🤦‍♀️🤭.

Maybe it does 🧐🤔…😈.

Oh yeah? I’ve done that 😂. You never know, cause with CL anything is pretty much on the table.

Yeah, we’ve gotten way more teases of Viggo than Oliver, so I’d rather surprised if V wasn’t next after WYF. That said, Freya kinda felt like out of nowhere, so who knows. O could be next.

Rozberry🍓 Welp, getting an arc is officially a bust, Aoife 😭. I followed every stupid profile tip Netgalley had & nothing ☹️. I tried other books to test the waters beforehand & was declined every single time. I’m gonna have to avoid arc reviews like the plague now or it’ll drive me crazy 🤦‍♀️😂.

Aoife - Bookish_Babbling Oh I'm soz hun!!!
Don't give up on the galley sites, you write such great reviews that they'd be foolish to overlook you much longer...I'd imagine it can be a bit painstaking to get off the ground. But plenty more books in this series with time for your profile recognition to grow before the next one 🤞

Do you happen to get email notifications for when authors answer questions? I had a CL mail yesterday where i saw her answer a question about wee novella with chapters to catch up with each couple and the parents once the series ends...or something to that effect, either way i am stoked and just shamelessly hanging for any Bergman content 🤗

message 24: by Mai (new)

Mai They didn't give me an arc too😂😂

Rozberry🍓 Aoife - Aw, thanks hun ☺️. You’re so sweet.
True true. I’m just particularly anxiously awaiting Ax & Rooney’s ❤️. It must. Seems like not being a blogger must be a big negative on that site, but it seems a little bit of ‘biting the hand that feeds you’ to overly prioritizing one over the other 🤷‍♀️.

I have it set so hers shows up in my feed here. So yes. Samesies 😉. I think her still being more of a reader than other authors is such a plus & seems to make her a little more in tune with what her readers want.

Rozberry🍓 Mai - Bummer ☹️. Sorry it didn’t work out for you too.

preoccupiedbybooks Sorry to hear that lovely. I got an ARC and don't have my own blog. But I've been doing reviews on NG for 2 /3 years now and have a high % feedback ratio. My tips would be to review a few read now books, and request some less popular ones first. Also make sure you're requesting ones available in your country. Wyf is one of the most popular requests! 🤗🤗

Rozberry🍓 Fran - Thanks. I mean I kinda figured I’d be denied when I couldn’t get any requests granted in the month I’ve been trying other books. Still a bummer though even if it was a long shot.
Oh? I hadn’t noticed ‘read now’ books. Do they have section or filter for those? Thanks.
Yeah, I noticed(WYF being most popular). Everyone is on to us now & what we’ve been gushing about since OWIU 😉😂.

Aoife - Bookish_Babbling Got an e-mail notification for "Ask Author" questions & apparently Oliver's book will be next 😎🙃
No date yet for Viggo - altho I did see an interesting question theorising his book might take inspiration from Northanger Abbey which is such a cool shout considering his love for romance reads & the MC in that book loving a certain type of gothic storytelling too if I'm remembering correctly 🤔
(Altho i haven't read it i just caught the Felicity Jones/Carey Mulligan adaptation on youtube one day & LOVED it 😅)

Rozberry🍓 Aoife - Well, missing seeing this only for half of a day is an improvement on my track record 🙈.

I got an idea, got a little creative, & shockingly landed a NG UK arc copy. Made the same profile, but go fig 🤷‍♀️. So I just found that out a few days ago Ollie is next. There’s not much of a tease (& I wouldn’t dare spoil that for anyone even if there was), but I will say, I’m not sure it’s going to be my reading cuppa, if I’m right. I’ll leave it at that.

Sadly, I doubt we’ll see more Bergmans this year after WYF. If the the space between 3 & 4 is any indication now since CL signed with an agency/got a book deal(I forget which it was - maybe both-, I just remember whichever was near the time EAA’s release). I don’t even wanna think about it being that long again before book 5 🙈🙊. Oh? Do you mean she was asked this here on GR? Viggo does fit the bill as a Catherine type, doesn’t he? 😂. Someone needs to settle him down just a pinch 🤏. He’s getting a little extra for me.

Samesies 🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞.

I understand 😊. My review might change anyway after reading the published version. I have no point of reference to know how different CL’s final versions may or may not be from the ARC. I discovered with WYF it’s actually trickier for me writing a review of a book I know I plan to read again that could be fairly different.

Aoife - Bookish_Babbling Oooh that could be a fun experiment, even more excited to read review and/or updates after release 🤩

Rozberry🍓 You’re very generous, but thank you ☺️. I’m waiting on my library app to fix the audiobook file, so I can hear the published version & then rewrite this.

Aoife - Bookish_Babbling Not generous, I love talking books with you hun 🤩

🤞🤞🤞 they can fix the file for you!

Lucía Such a great review! I cannot agree more with your “things amiss” part. I love the family and the lack of appearance they had on this book left me disappointed, not even a scene of Rooney and Axel announcing their secret marriage 😭
Let’s hope Oliver’s book delivers on that aspect! 🤞🏻

Idk, maybe I am just being odd & overthinking it — ha! not that I ever do that 🙈🥴. Reviewing an ARC of a book I cared about before I even read it just felt harder & kinda forced 🤷🏻‍♀️🙈.

Thank you ☺️. I’m sad to hear it wasn’t fixed in the published version. I was really 🤞 that would catch CL’s attention in arc reviews. I still liked the book, but CL has spoiled us so far & compared to the previous ones, the writing was off a smidge with things like this.

It’s easy peasy to be a critical little shit — hrmph, I mean tell it like it is (😉) — & let the review happen however when I have no attachment to series/book beforehand. Yeah, here this was weird, especially not knowing if anything would change much. As big of a fan as I am of the series, I don’t think I’m gonna try & do ARC again for the Bergmans, so I can just do what I feel like more.

I get it now 🙈😂.

Aoife - Bookish_Babbling Your thoughts are your thoughts express them in whatever way you wish 👍😎

Rozberry🍓 True true, Aoife. I think it just made me feel tentative not knowing how different the released copy may or may not be for a book I know I’ll read again. Cause to this point all other ones I have received have been pretty one & done reading for me, so that wasn’t a consideration.
