did not like it

say it with me everyone.. PEDOPHILIA🤢

if you actually enjoy this book and recommend it to people, i hope you get help. Age Gap books are completely ok until it gets to stuff like this. it is NOT ok to have a 15 year old girl dating a 32 year old man?!?! it’s literally disgusting. plus him being her coach? it makes me want to puke even thinking about it. i haven’t even read this shit but y’all actually have?! i’m just 🤢 don’t read this book. if you don’t agree i dont care keep it to yourself....

“Age is just a number” yeah but the girl is UNDERAGE! nothing is ok with that. 15 and 32? it’s statutory rape. he’s grooming her.

“the book is fiction” “it’s just a book” “but you didn’t even read it”

and i get that to a certain point, but when’s it about real disturbing topics like that it’s all of a sudden a lot more. and a book like that is an informative way where it’s about understanding the seriousness and how heartbreaking and wrong it is VS a book where it’s romanized and young impressionable girls are so vulnerable to it and imagine if they thought it was okay or that it was something be happy about. that is just heart breaking.

the main problem here besides the book itself is the people promoting this book to young girls. on tiktok one day, someone got so much hate for posting a tiktok about an 18+ book without putting 18+ anywhere in the video. they got mad they were promoting it to young girls without saying it was meant for 18+ people. but then when this book is promoted on tiktok and instagram it is suddenly ok? suddenly it’s “hot” is this really where your mind set is at? if so, i’m truly disappointed.

for those talking about other tropes, the problem isn’t reading about different tropes, the problem is PROMOTING and ROMANTIZING pedophilia, statutory rape and grooming. that is the problem so do not go into victim mode cause you are mad someone says something about your 15/32 forceful relationship book. i do not understand how this is not a problem for some people.

( @ all my instagrams fans being mad. i still see y’all if you block me💀try harder sis)

Yeehawwlovesbooks @madison just a little fair warning others like different genres of books. Just because the things happened IN THE BOOK doesn’t mean you have to be harsh about it. And some people have different opinions but age is just numbers what matters is if they love somebody Ans the age is a not a far gap then who cares but I take this offensive.

Yeehawwlovesbooks Let people think what they want. People don’t have to get help if that’s the way there mind works.

⋆ allyson. @Veronica it’s literally pedophilia. she is a MINOR, FIFTEEN and he is THIRTY-TWO. what is NOT clicking? that is a harmful topic to perpetrate and mark as romance. that’s disgusting. she’s not harsh it’s the truth.

maddison @ Veronica she’s a MINOR? that’s just not ok period. It’s literally pedophilia. It’s not harsh.

Rahma 's Amillionbook @veronica lets be critical here, if it was a 17 year old girl then MAYBE JUST LIKE 1% MAYBE ur argument would work but for a 15/32 age gap. Lol at age 15 i still didn't understand hard ons exactly and ive been reading romance since i was 12. For arguments sake, If u want to endorse a book were the girl is minor but book isn't pedo in the way its written then dark notes by pam godwin where girl is 17. But see mental compatibility works for ur argument as if 2 people work good mentally then for them age is justa number as in The Redemption by nikki sloane. But in this book, kiva a 32 year old grooms her, treats her like shit, has gf he cheats on cause he can't stop himself and most of all he blames her for his attraction and makes a career stopping decision for her by misusing his power as a coach (the reason laws against this kind of behaviour exist). Also in the book, the state mentioned had laws against minority sec and stuff and age of consent is 18. That is pedo. He is a PEDOPHILIAC and she was GROOMED. And 15 is just too young like seriously.

Laura✧˚ · . A 32 going after a 15 years old girl and being her coach is predatory doesn’t matter if it’s fictional or not. They end up having a relationship and it sends the message that it’s okay to pursue minors because maybe it’s love. I’m sorry but there is a reason why a legal age and consent exist and the author should have made the girl legal, not a minor. It’s disgusting

Zozo Agreed

Iris The heroine is 17? I'm reading at the moment and I'm 99% sure she's 17. 🤔

message 12: by Iris (new)

Iris Not that that's much better. 😅

message 13: by Iris (new)

Iris Or am I reading an edition that skips around her age?

Vanessa Ruiz In the beginning of the book she is 16 not 15 and then a bit more into the book she turns 17, but I do agree with how wrong this book was.

Yvonne Day Yeah I'm curious. I'm just reading this because it's gymnastics. But I do know that in real life gymnastics If a gymnast had a thing with the coach and the federation found out the coach wouldn't be coaching anymore. Just look at Don Peters and the gymnast he had an affair with. Don Peters was banned for life and the relationship on top of the fact that he was an abusive personality where the reasons cited.

This book would have done a lot better had she made the character a new adult which would have been over the age of 18. Considering the fact that the median age for the current national team is 21 or 22, this book is already dated.

Also I have it in audiobook and the person that is reading it does not know how to pronounce Russian last names. This person needs to watch some gymnastics coverage to learn how to pronounce the names. Also the author didn't do research on Russian family names. Names ending in o v a are only for females. Never males.
