1 disappointment star


Spoilers Ahead

So this was one my highly anticipated read of the month. I was really excited for it because of the hype regarding how I need to get my tissues ready, how people who normally don’t cry, cried while reading this book. And the teasers omg they were amazing especially the one where Lavender was all like “you think you deserve my kiss now”. I was ready for some strong female lead giving shit to the guy after he fucked things up.

And then I started reading the book and i didn’t even feel a single emotion.

Me after reading the “climax” scene where we get to read about what happened the “night” Kodiak and Lavender had their big fall out.



And then me looking threw the few remaining pages to see where I was supposed to need tissues for



Now I am the type of person who easily will release a few waterworks while reading a book. ESPECIALLY when it’s the time of the month for me. Now here throughout the book I felt nothing. Nada. No sadness, happiness or anything. The only real feeling I got was finally when Kodiak realises that he is done trying to push Lavender away and wants to be with her. And you know what feeling was awakened from inside of my sleeping slumber body? Annoyance.

Because it was like both Kodiak and Lavenders personalities did a complete 360. Lavender somehow started uttering bold words instead of her usual “I hate you” and Kodiak suddenly became a stuttering hopeless love sick puppy. Like where was this Lavender during the start or middle of the book!? The only thing she had then was her famous “I hate you” dialogue. One can argue with me that she finally has enough and is standing up for herself but like a complete switch in her personality in this way did not sit well for me.

Now I’m not going to speak regarding the personal issues they both had with anxiety etc. as I personally don’t have such issue nor do I know anyone going through something like that so I can’t speak regarding that matter. However I am going to say that I failed to connect and understand both of them individually and their relationship together. I didn’t understand how their relationship was toxic for the other? Yes, Lavender was dependent on Kodiak and Kodiak got a super hero complex but I failed to understand what was wrong with that. And then the way the parents handled the situation by asking them to keep their distance from one another like they both are just kids here! The parents are the reason Kodiak became distant from Lavender and believed he was wrong for her. So that matter wasn’t handled properly at all.

And then comes the part which I was most excited about thanks to the teasers. Lavender not giving into Kodiak easily. Right? HAHAHAHAHA. wrong.

Lavender to Kodiak after he confessed he always wanted her and is done trying to push her away
”You think you deserve to kiss me after the hell you’ve put me through? That’s a fuck no, big boy. You want to know what my mouth tastes like, you need to earn it, and everything else.”

“You seem to think you know what happens when I’m alone up here. So I’m going to show you. And maybe it’ll give you a little motivation to figure your damn shit out.” She reaches behind her and unclasps her bra.”

10 seconds later

She’s kneeling in front of the dildo, so I can’t see what she’s doing when her hand disappears between her thighs, but the wet sound and her soft whimper are enough to give me an idea.

Now a few chapters before Lavender couldn’t even stand to be alone with Kodiak without her freaking out and now suddenly she is masturbating in front of him.

And again you can argue with me ”Hey Mickey, she finally is standing up for herself and she did ask him to get out without physically pleasing him”

Hmmmm okay but then the next morning

“I know.” He reaches across the table, palm up. “I’m so tired of trying to make you hate me. I just want to love you again, but better this time.”
I line my fingers up with his, the tips touching. “I don’t need to be saved anymore, Kodiak. I slay my own dragons now.”
He curls his pinkie around mine and nods.
And we begin again.



So everything was forgiven and forgotten at this point. Again you can argue with me that ”Hey Mickey, at least she didn’t let him fuck her and kept up with masturbating or fucking herself with dildo’s act in front of Kodiak

So let’s just conclude this review here and say that this book was a complete miss for me. I am very Sorry. After the whole fucking dildo’s thing I was just skipping through the very few remaining chapters and reached the epilogue which I didn’t even bother reading completely.

Also again was I the only one from the very start could tell river, violets twin was gay and was hooking up with Josiah?
