really liked it

The story of Africa told through a man who refused to bend his values to fit into the system... It is always interesting to see how African countries are similar when it comes to politics. The era that this book talks about was the most challenging in African politics, and the writer managed to pen it down so well. The story pulls you in gently while reminding you of the path we have travelled, and are still travelling, as Africans in politics. I really enjoyed it.

Eric One of Africa's early classics! Shows Armah has always been a man of great integrity. Gratifying that he is still very much around, a literary colossus.

Lupna Avery Because of his incredible honesty, the man frustrates his wife, family etc...but if only African leaders and main men were like this! We won't be so pathetic and disorganised, worshipping western world.

And at the end the wife appreciates the very honesty she hated. We need more men like this

Eric Great great writer, Sir Ayi Kwei Armah

Puleng Hopper I am only on page 25, the beginning is indeed unhurried

Ayanda Xaba I tell you Puleng, I almost stopped reading because of it! I decided to brave it and eventually got to the good parts
