Antoine de Saint-Exupéry
“All grown-ups were once children... but only few of them remember it.”
Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, The Little Prince

Antoine de Saint-Exupéry
“I am looking for friends. What does that mean -- tame?"

"It is an act too often neglected," said the fox. "It means to establish ties."

"To establish ties?"

"Just that," said the fox. "To me, you are still nothing more than a little boy who is just like a hundred thousand other little boys. And I have no need of you. And you, on your part, have no need of me. To you I am nothing more than a fox like a hundred thousand other foxes. But if you tame me, then we shall need each other. To me, you will be unique in all the world. To you, I shall be unique in all the world....”
Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, The Little Prince

Antoine de Saint-Exupéry
“What makes the desert beautiful,' said the little prince, 'is that somewhere it hides a well...”
Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, The Little Prince

Antoine de Saint-Exupéry
“People have forgotten this truth," the fox said. "But you mustn’t forget it. You become responsible forever for what you’ve tamed. You’re responsible for your rose.”
Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, The Little Prince

Antoine de Saint-Exupéry
“It is such a mysterious place, the land of tears.”
Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, The Little Prince

Antoine de Saint-Exupéry
“People where you live," the little prince said, "grow five thousand roses in one garden... yet they don't find what they're looking for...

They don't find it," I answered.

And yet what they're looking for could be found in a single rose, or a little water..."

Of course," I answered.

And the little prince added, "But eyes are blind. You have to look with the heart.”
Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, The Little Prince

Antoine de Saint-Exupéry
“You - you alone will have the stars as no one else has them...In one of the stars I shall be living. In one of them I shall be laughing. And so it will be as if all the stars were laughing, when you look at the sky at night...You - only you - will have stars that can laugh.”
Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, El Principito

Antoine de Saint-Exupéry
“It is the time you have wasted for your rose that makes your rose so important.”
Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, The Little Prince

Antoine de Saint-Exupéry
“You see, one loves the sunset when one is so sad.”
Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, The Little Prince

Antoine de Saint-Exupéry
“You're beautiful, but you're empty...One couldn't die for you. Of course, an ordinary passerby would think my rose looked just like you. But my rose, all on her own, is more important than all of you together, since she's the one I've watered. Since she's the one I put under glass, since she's the one I sheltered behind the screen. Since she's the one for whom I killed the caterpillars (except the two or three butterflies). Since she's the one I listened to when she complained, or when she boasted, or even sometimes when she said nothing at all. Since she's my rose.”
Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, The Little Prince

Antoine de Saint-Exupéry
“The most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or touched, they are felt with the heart.”
Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, The Little Prince

Antoine de Saint-Exupéry
“You become responsible, forever, for what you have tamed.”
Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, The Little Prince

Antoine de Saint-Exupéry
“So the little prince tamed the fox. And when the hour of his departure drew near--

Ah," said the fox, "I shall cry."

It is your own fault," said the little prince. "I never wished you any sort of harm; but you wanted me to tame you . . ."

Yes, that is so," said the fox.

But now you are going to cry!" said the little prince.

Yes, that is so," said the fox.

Then it has done you no good at all!"

It has done me good," said the fox, "because of the color of the wheat fields.”
Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, The Little Prince

Antoine de Saint-Exupéry
“Where are the people?” resumed the little prince at last. “It’s a little lonely in the desert…” “It is lonely when you’re among people, too,” said the snake.”
Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, The Little Prince

Antoine de Saint-Exupéry
“The proof that the little prince existed is that he was charming, that he laughed, and that he was looking for a sheep. If anybody wants a sheep, that is a proof that he exists.”
Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, The Little Prince

This should be the book talking about his return; I still haven't read it, but as you can see in the comments it was not for sure what everybody was waiting about.

Anoud I just finished this 2 weeks ago ♥

Thank you for the link... I know about this book (plus in my country another guy wrote a continuation for the Little Prince and very much tried to pass it as if Exupery wrote it - pretty shady if you ask me :( )

However, I'm not a fan of a new author "picking" up the work of someone more famous. Plus the comments are anything but convincing. 😂

😍 Love the Little Prince! I read it so many times!

One of the best books, suitable for everyone.

Nico Nico Ni One of my favorite books

Same here, if I were forced to choose my favourite book, only one, I would probably say this one.

Federico DN I've read the Roemmers Return of the Young Prince and I would advise against it. It does have some very nice moments and interesting things but overall it just seemed he was pitching his view of the world and using the Little Prince for it.

I too am waiting for him. You are not alone. This is in truth not a children's book per se. It speaks to the child that remains deep within us.

Yeah, I don't think anyone could come even close to the brilliance of little prince. They can try but I'm certainly not reading it. We also had some here try to write "continuation" of Little Prince and the marketing was done in such a way that it looked like it was from Exupery. 🤦‍♀️ Disgusting.

Thank you. A child would not understand the gems contained within the story without an adult explaining the concepts to them. St. Exupery had written that all adults had once been children, though "few of them remember it". Remarkable man.

It is almost a sacrilege to meddle with this book. Something like it comes along only once in a lifetime. Trying to ride on its coattails is just not right. St. Exupery himself was a rare individual-a person of true understanding. I doubt we will see his like again.

My name is Mom (aka Marsha) Mischa, I have been waiting 40 years and will wait however many more I have left for the little Prince to return.

Federico DN Don't we all 🌹? But he lives forever in our hearts 😍
