It took a while to get used to Holter reading this. I really love Lorelei who reads the Mercy Thompson series. After finishing this, I really appreciate how Holter read this. This is not a Mercy book. It's a nice change to have a different reader because the Charles and Anna books don't follow the same format as Mercy's. The POV changes between the two characters.

I think Holter reads Charles part really well. For all his years, Charles is still Salish. I think his speech pattern would have gotten more neutral over the years if this was anyone but Charles. The way Holter reads it is just about the same as I heard in my head when I first read this.

This was a series I wasn't really sure about. It had qualities I liked but somehow remained on the fence. It wasn't until Fair Game that I was hooked but ever since this has been another favorite series. I think I'm really going to enjoy Holter's narration of this series.
