it was amazing
bookshelves: paranormal-romance, keepers

What a fool I am! I've had this hot number sitting patiently in my TBR pile for months, just waiting for me to finally pick it up and read it! After reading the first two titles in the "Immortals After Dark" series, I was not in any real hurry to read further in the series. The first book was okay, and admittedly the second book was much better, but this one was just outstanding! I feel like I did when I finally got around to reading J.R. Ward's BDB. Now I can't wait to read more!

I'll admit I fell HARD for the hero in this book, the reluctant vampire named Sebastian Wroth. He was just the sweetest, sexiest guy, with all his vulnerabilities and his lacking in (sexual) self-confidence. And his "Bride", the valkyrie Kaderin the Cold Hearted--it took me a while to warm up to her. At first she was so mean and hurtful to Sebastian, I wondered why he stayed around. But then I grew to like her too, and by the end of the book I wanted her to get all that she dreamed of. I ended up loving these two as a couple!

I loved the whole "Amazing Race-like" plot to the book. It was fast paced, and easier to follow than the previous books, maybe because it wasn't loaded down with a lot of 'lore' terms. And while the valkyries sometimes annoyed me in the previous books, this time I found their antics very amusing. I especially liked the reference to 'Survivor' host Jeff Probst--very funny!

And although there weren't a lot of sex scenes, the few that were written were smokin' hot, and filled with emotion! Believe me, you won't even miss the lack of a lot of sex scenes, because the book is filled with longing, and sexual tension, and before you know it, it's almost over--and you won't want it to end! And if you're like me, you'll have tears in your eyes during the emotional final chapters.

For all you sceptics who don't think you'd like a paranormal romance, give this one a try. I don't read many paranormals, but I loved this one! And for all you J.R. Ward fans--if you like the BDB books, but haven't found anything that could compare, I urge you to give this book a try. It completely captivated me.

Eastofoz I second everything you said Auntee! Great review! I loved that whole Amazing Race feel to it.

And now you're going to read about BOWEN!!!!!! Cancel whatever you have planned and put the phone off the hook --it'll be hard to tear yourself away from the next one ;)

Auntee I'm getting ready to start it right now--can hardly wait!:)

Auntee East, I didn't like how Bowen treated Sebastian! LOL! I hope he redeems himself in my eyes!;D

Julie (jjmachshev) MWAH HAH HAH...now you're hooked too!!!!!
cue maniacal laughter...
JJ

Auntee I'm afraid you're right!:D

Eastofoz LOL Julie --sooooooooooooo true!!!

You'll forget all about Sebastien once you're done with Bowen Auntee ;)

Auntee Oh, wow! He's going to be a tough act to follow though...

Julianna That's how I feel about the BDB guys. They're all so fabulous, I like each one as much or more than the last one. I'm going to have try IAD sometime, but right now I still have one more BDB to go to catch up and recently started the Dark-Hunters and Breeds series, not to mention all the contemporary and historical series I'm working on. I think I need to finish something first.;)

Julie (jjmachshev) I do think that's one of the things that makes romance novels (of any and all sub-genres) so popular. We can have a different man with every book!!

Eastofoz Heather, Bowen and Cade were THE best ones for me :D Now the others were fine (except Conrad's story, didn't really like that one) but Bowen is in a class all by his lonesome :D

Readdiction I LOVED Conrad. =)

I'm glad there's another fan! I think KC's paranormals are amazing and unique. I prefer them to her historicals. Can't wait for the next Woede bro book !!

Kathrynn This was one of my favorites! :-) Great characters and storyline.

Heather Cadeon was my favorite... however he was the last hero in the last book... hmmm ;) I cant wait for his brothers story... I forget his name ...

H

Eastofoz Rydstrom is Cade's brother. Should be a good one!

Readdiction She seriously built up suspense for that book. All those secrets and of course, more lickable horns!

MelissaB I think Rydstrom's story will be good and sexy. I really liked Cade's story, so I am excited for more hot demons! A little off-topic, but for those of you who like the Amazing Race, it starts again on September 28th (Auntee's review reminded me, the Amazing race part of this book was great!)

Auntee Melissab,
I think that's what hooked me--I love "The Amazing Race"! That was a very clever plot line!:)

MelissaB I love Amazing Race as well! I also love to read the review the next day on Entertainment Weekly's website, www.ew.com, the reviews are hilarious and make the show even better.

I watch Survivor too, it starts on Thursday in HD for the first time. Yeah!

Did your power go out last night Auntee? Mine went off at 9:45pm and didn't come on until 4:45am. There were a lot of pissed off Steelers fans. The winds were crazy, a tree limb fell on my neighbor's house. I was reading Spell of the Highlander by KMM by flashlight!

Auntee Melissab,
I never read the reviews on the race on EW's website--I definitely will do that this year! I like to go to CBS.com and watch the videos of what happens to the contestants after they're out of the race. I can't remember what they call it, but it's usually a little 5 minute video that shows where the contestants are secluded once they get eliminated. Oh yeah! It's called "Elimination Station"!

Yeah, our power went out around 7:30, came back around 8:30, and then was off and on until around 10:00--and then it stayed on. But then the cable went out (which is tied in with my internet service), and I think it's still out.:(

I missed the Steeler game with all the outages.:(
And I was reading by flashlight too! LOL!
