The Mistletoe Inn (Mistletoe #2)

This author has a way of writing that pulls you in. With such a pretty cover, I always expect a fluffy, sweet romance, but within the pages of his books, there is always a depth, usually something very sad, that the main character has to grow and heal from. They are sad and uplifting all at the same time. This book was fun because I enjoy bookish type books. In this story, the heroine likes to write and she wants to have her book published. She attends a writers conference and meets another author. I would recommend it to those who love Christmas stories with some depth and to those who love to read about the writing world, getting published, the beauty of words, and, of course, books with a HEA.

I'm so glad you enjoyed this one. I love this author's books. Just like you said you get more than you expect. In case you can't find the movie, I watched it on YouTube under Hallmark movies. I can't remember if I asked you if you've read the other book, Mistletoe Promise, yet? Beautiful but very thought provoking.
Oh, I never thought about it being on YouTube. Thanks! Yes, I have read The Mistletoe Promise. I might prefer that story over this one, in fact;-)
Thanks for the very thoughtful review. The bookish book is one of my favorites as well. Although not "bookish" in nature, "The Walk" series by this author contained many of the other thematic elements you pointed out in "The Mistletoe Inn". This is definitely another Richard Paul Evans book that will be making its way to my "want to read shelf".
The movie is so great! Some typical Hallmark bits, but I LOVE it. So witty and fun ;) I really want to read the book now.
I'm watching the movie right now, but who ever thought right before Christmas is a good time for a writers conference? ;)

Haha, very true ;) I know I would never be able to go!! :D

Lucinda ~ I watched it about a week ago and had that same thought going through my mind the whole time. Lol
Laura~ my hubby and I just realized we could watch just about any Hallmark movie on YouTube on our TV. It's been awesome. We don't have a tv provider and usually just do Netflix but I mentioned a month ago that I wish I could watch some cute, cheesy and happy Hallmark Christmas movies and that led to us checking YouTube. There's lots! So needless to say we've been watching one together almost every night and it's been so fun! My favorite (though not a Hallmark) is The Christmas Kiss. It's on Netflix and has the nutcracker and A Christmas Carol references in it.
Dave, I will have to look into "The Walk" series. I have only read a handful of his Christmas novellas. I always enjoy them.
Huh, I guess I didn't pay much attention to the conference being at Christmas. I guess I mentally just accepted it as something some people might actually enjoy. Lol.

My wife and son undertook a mammoth expedition this spring/summer, hiking 1300 miles of the Appalachian Trail before they were forced to take a hiatus while my son heals from a stress fracture incurred in his foot. They are headed back out in the spring to finish the last 900 miles of the trail. Alas, I digress.
While they were away, I discovered the Hallmark Channel. Oh boy. Through a combination of the movies and "Chesapeake Shores", I will admit that I have become a huge fan, bordering on addiction ;-)
Now that I know that many of these movies are available on YouTube, I can see my "addiction" only becoming worse, but thank you, Julie ;-)

Dave~ Ha ha ha ha! It's very addicting, glad to help but sorry as well. I usually don't watch too much but pick a book over a show. My hubby comes home from work late and he loves turning on something, even if it's just for a few minutes to destress from his crazy days. Sometimes I watch with him and sometimes I'll read while he watches. Either way I think we're hooked on the Hallmark shows on YouTube. No going back now.
Sorry about your son's foot. Hopefully it'll heal soon and he and your wife can finish walking the Appalachian Trail. That's pretty awesome!
