Leo Loves Aries (Signs of Love, #1)
by
I absolutely LOVED Anyta Sunday's latest release, "Leo Loves Aries." It was full of snark, humor and loads of banter, which was right up my alley.
Theo and his sister, Leone, were finishing up their undergraduate degrees, both heartbroken after their latest love interests had fallen head-over-heels in love. With each other!
I know! WTF, right?
(How I pictured smartass, confident Theo.)
A lot of the early story revolved around how both siblings had tried to move on, but couldn't quite get there, as they were still a bit stuck in the past romantically.
Enter their mother, with a horoscope for both of her darling Leos for the coming year. And Theo's old economics tutor, Jamie. Well, not 'old' old, as they're around the same age, plus, Jamie's extremely attractive, which even 'straight' Theo can recognize.
(How I pictured level-headed, selfless and loving Jamie.)
I was completely enthralled by the interactions between Theo and Jamie in this story. Theo loved to get under Jamie's calm, collected skin and Jamie gave as good as he got, which was so much fun to watch. Give me a book with great banter and I'm about half sold already, which this one did.
One of my favorite scenes in the book was where Theo went on a date with his sister's friend, Liz, inviting Jamie and Leone along, in hopes of jump starting their romance, too. Sweet Jesus, Theo really was just that clueless, but the date worked out great -- for Theo and Jamie! Liz? Liz who? ;- )
Then when Jamie's best friend from Wisconsin, Sean, came on the scene, Theo's jealousy was fully ignited. But all 'straight' guys feel that way, right? God, I loved those green-eyed monster scenes.
Eventually Theo worked out what was going on inside his head and, after a small bump in the road, we get our HEA. I would've loved to see an epilogue, but the story ended on a great note, so I was happy with where it left off.
As for the steam, *yes,* the book did have some steam, but the scenes tended to happen fairly quickly, then move on, without lingering over lots of description.
There were also some feels, but not to the same extent as my favorite of Anyta's works, "rock," which is insanely highly recommended, by the way.
Overall, this one hit it out of the park for me, so I'd rate it at around 4.5 shiny, happy, feel good stars.
** NOTE: This story is now available as a *FREE* read through Kindle Unlimited (as of 2016-12-09.)

“You have to have the last word, don’t you?”This is your classic tale where the straight guy meets another guy who he clicks with on every single level, but still can't see the forest for the trees. Doesn't see what's right in front of him or recognize his own feelings. Clueless guy is clueless.
Theo looked up at him and smiled. “Who, me?”

Ha yes - I was actually thinking about this book today (I finished it last night) and wondering if I might even like it better than Rock. Rock was amazing, but a huge emotional investment. This book just made me feel good all the way through.

For me, too, but it didn't feel so 'fluffy' that it didn't have any substance.
But "rock"...? God, I loved that book so much. The feels were off the charts (and I had no problem with the possible half-brother incest in that one, so it didn't trigger spoil it for me.)

Oh, did you google what a "salad sandwich" was?
Uhhh, I've *never* seen anyone in America eat one of those, like, ever. ;- )

Agreed - I had no issues with Rock in terms of the trigger - she really worked it out well. Have you ever read Nest? She just republished and said that it was a story that she wrote before Rock (sort of as a writing exercise) and then she revised heavily and re-released. It has a lot of similarities to Rock - which is probably why I liked it!
As for the salad sandwich - I had no idea! All I could think was maybe it was salad in a pita - which I have actually eaten. But no, salad sandwiches are not something I've heard of (at least they aren't called that)!
I saw this on netgalley and ignored it, but your review soled me this book. *clicking the request button on netgalley* Awesome review hun! xx

Yeah, this one was pretty memorable and very well written. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

Thanks. I can't imagine many people finding any 'triggers' in this one. Fluffy, but with plenty of feel-good soul. : )

I thought a salad sandwich must be a tuna sandwich. Off to google salad sandwich now.

Google it, and since Anyta is from down under, I added either New Zealand or Australia to my search keywords.
It's apparently not like chicken salad, turkey salad, tuna salad, etc. Just a SALAD. On bread.
The American in me was left scratching my head. hehe

Oh, weird. When I just looked for salad sandwich, I saw tuna, chicken and egg salad options. I'll look again with NZ and Aussie specs.

Anyta sent me a link for what she meant by Salad Sandwich and, nope, it's not what we thought at all.
Basically, it's hummus, veggies & bread. That's it.

Btw, I was thinking about this book a lot today and I have to say, I think Jamie won the rugrats "battle." I think he said four so Theo would counter with the 3 Jamie truly wants!

How can you never have had a salad sandwich?! Wonder if it's a left over British Empire thing.
I had one the other day with lettuce, tomato, cucumber, grated carrot and salad cream. Sometimes, like today, we add extras like ham or cheese or turkey and Dijon mustard.
Salad sandwiches are a staple of UK lunchtime cuisine :)

Yum. I've never called it a salad sandwich, but I've eaten essentially the same thing many a time.

Your review is perfect timing for me to read, because I just started this tonight and was like... wait a minute, he’s still broken-hearted about his old girlfriend Samantha? Where’s the other “M” in the M/M?!? 😂 It’s cute so far!

OMG, I *loved* this book so hard. I just finished book 4 and it's *almost* as good, but Theo and Jamie are awesome AF.
