Needing to Breathe (Two Is Never Enough, #1)

This was a cute story about Jock and Gus who are lone werewolf mates trying to survive on their own after being cast our of their pack. They find a litter of actual wolf cubs whose mother had been killed by a trapper. Archer, is the Alpha wolf who tracks them down in search of the the trapper who killed the wolf mother. He quickly realizes Jock and Gus are his mates and wants them to be their own pack. Gus takes some extra convincing, as he is afraid Archer will take Jock away from him. But, once Archer convinces Gus that Jock will still belong to him, but that both of them will belong to Archer.
That is pretty much the story in a nutshell. It is cute, but pretty simple and straightforward. Other than getting Gus on board with the plan, there isn’t really anything else giving these guys any trouble. The writing was a bit choppy in places, mostly due to the short, monosyllable conversations. Unfortunately, we don’t really learn very much about any of the other werewolves, packs or anything really to do with their being werewolves. These are just three wolves who end up living together in a somewhat secluded setting. The wolf pups were cute, but they felt like more of a filler than a necessary part of the story.
All in all, this was a cute afternoon read that fans of shifter stories would enjoy.
