Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (Harry Potter #1)

***Because I got hate in the comments for OMG swearing in a children's book review (which I get, I guess...), DON'T READ THIS IF YOU ARE UNDER 18. Happy now, everyone?***
Well, I did it. I FINALLY read my first Harry Potter book...and in the same year as its 20th anniversary no less.
But better late than never, no?
Annnnd I already ordered the illustrated hardback.
And asked for the full hardcover set for Christmas.
From my dad.
Because nothing says, “I’m a thirty-fucking-five-year-old adult” like asking Daddy for Harry Potter for Christmas.

I have a confession to make.

I have never read Harry Potter.
Yes, yes, I know...this is akin to reader sacrilege.
But I just had no interest in these books when they came out. I was too busy reading about men in kilts fucking the milkmaid.
Therefore, my only experience with "Hermione" is the SNL skit where Lindsey Lohan shows Harry and that other scarfed dude her ginormous tatas.
Well, what with everyone going ape shit over the newest installment, I figure I should probably find out what all this Hogwart's business is about.
And since my friend's 9 year old demanded that I read his copy, I now have the paperback in my possession.
Hoping to get starting this week...

It too me a few attempts to get into the first book, only at the insistence of my buddy who kept telling me I'd love it, even though it has zero smut and magic. By the time the Half Blood Prince was releasing I was pulling an all nighter to finish it. I hate it when she's right. Enjoy :-)
Damn, now I'm going to be the only one left in the world who hasn't read this series. But I also won't ever be reading it, it just isn't my genre. I can't suspend enough belief for this stuff.
i have also never read them. But if you didnt know, all the books are free if u have kindle unlimited!!
I have not read them either. I was waiting for them all to come out and then lost track of time. 10 years later. LOL
OMFG VAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! *deep breaths* OKAY. Now I am hoping you like them!!! This is my entire childhood LOL

This is amazing. So many haven't read the books about the Potter boy. All the books are absolutely brilliant!
But I get it Vikings & Milkmaids + Scots & Kilts sometimes make for better reading.
So, if you're taking the time to read this not so kid friendly series. Happy Reading !!!

I've never read them either lol, they just never really interested me. I was too busy reading Gossip Girl, hope it goes well!!
Just downloaded Filthy Dirty Alpha, it's kind of like dirty potter, I mean, I heard there's a big wAnd. Loving your shelves.
I didn't read it when it came out either. I think I started reading it after almost 3 movies were out. Then I find out the book is WAY better than the movies.
I guess I thought if I had a kid, or adopted a kid, or someone made me an auntie I would read it with them...
So I blame birth control for my lack of potter.

Read the book to make sure it was kid friendly before I took my kid to see the first movie. Hell, I ended up the Potter fan and my kid has never read any of the books.

A.Cook - that happened to me with Juicy Juice. There's a reason it comes in those minuscule helpings, it's nectar of the over sweet pure pure fruits of the world.

Discovered Boxed Wine the other day. This is genius for the solo drinker. Keeps it fresh. Now there's a little spigot in my refrigerator that always asks me if perhaps I'd like to make my drink a little happy. Every drink can be a sangria now with the touch of a button.
The "Black Box" merlot is excellent, and you correct that it will keep for days and days. Assuming it actually lasts that long.
Erik wrote: "sigh, that was written as if I've been hitting that spigot a little to hard already."
Lol! Karen tells me drunk reviews use to be thing here Erik. Ah, the good ol'days.
FYI - even today I had to quickly edit a comment I made because when I reread it I was like, "What toothless hillbilly wrote that!

I have never read it either and my brother and husband yell at me over it all the time. I may someday pick it up. Can't wait to see your thoughts on it!
The merlot is the blue-ish marked box all the way on the right. The red labeled Cab on the far left isn't too bad and does well in cooking.
