really liked it

I was hoping to have more fun with this read. It is a scientific and close-up and personal look at the varying species of our avian neighbors and how they compare to other members of the animal kingdom, including humans.
This extensively researched book is for the more serious birder and contains many results of experiments on varying species of birds the world over.
A 5* read for the serious birder and 4*'s for the casual enthusiast like myself.
I'll just be happy watching the birds in my backyard. Everything from hawks to hummers.

S.P. Aruna There's so many types of birds where I live, all with their distinctive sounds and complex behavior. Perhaps I should pick this up

Jay Schutt You may like it. A lot of the research was done in New Caledonia with tropical birds.

Cheryl Thanks for this review, Jay. It's helpful.

message 4: by Jay (new) - rated it 4 stars

Jay Schutt Thanks, Cheryl. I enjoyed the parts that I could relate to, meaning the every day backyard birds and their habits.

Sean Sparks I agree with your review! I especially liked the sections dealing with the intelligence of Corvids. She is coming out with a newer book soon (maybe this month?).

Jay Schutt Thanks for the tip. I will be watching for it. I always have my eyes to the sky to see what new thing I might see. Saw a Bald Eagle fly over the house last week and on one of my walks this week I saw a Great Blue Heron in flight. Always a new adventure with nature.
