a friend of a friend was looking at my bookshelves recently and making my favorite kind of conversation (which is a conversation made up exclusively of statements about books i own) when he picked up this book.
and he was like, "this is my favorite movie, but i'm scared if i read the book it'll ruin it."
and i said, "you just picked up the single book (out of 700+ books) that i would make this statement about: the movie is better. don't even bother."
and that's the extent of my thoughts.

I've read this one back when I was 14 and wondered if I should reread it now that I'm 21.. I guess I'll just rewatch the movie haha

Disagree, I think the movie was completely horrible and there are so many nuances of mental health addressed in this book that the movie completely glazes over. I thought this book was amazing.
Sorry you didn't enjoy it as much as the film. That said, Quick's skill where dysfunctional characters, unusual plots and uplifting themes is outstanding! I'd suggest you read "The Good Luck of Right Now" or any of his others

thanks!
I've never ready the book, but really like the movie. Last time I watched it was four years ago, on the eve on the Eagles' Super Bowl, so I'd like to say it delivered some good mojo.

I agree. The film is definitely better (one of my favs). But then again I'd read the book when I was 14. Maybe at 23, my opinion will change.
