An astounding achievement of 20th century Feminism... Psych! It's absolutely the opposite of that...
Taut, tense, and with a lightning-speed pace, this is a seminal work by Cain. Its also a bit elementary, less wordy than the similar noir "The Butterfly" though not as epic (or precious, or memorable) as (my personal favorite) "Mildred Pierce."

Hi Fabian, yep, blistering pace. But I wanted to know more about why this couple, within 10 pages, turn to murder.

I saw your review and thought you might like Loafing by La Brea, my slice of life novel set in Los Angeles. I've put a link below. Thank you and enjoy.

Thanks Micheal! I can't find Booker "Milkman" award novel at city or county libraries, they haven't even ordered it yet. I seldom buy books anymore as I have too many, so am going to order Milkman, plus a David Goodis (his 'Pick-Up' made into Trauffuat film that's very good, "Shoot the Piano Player") omnibus because Goodis is such a good author. So, yes, LaBrea novel sounds great, I lived in Southern Ca from 1981 to 1998, loved it but it just got too stressful, so I'm ordering your book also!
