Lettura (o meglio "ascolto"!) piacevole e scorrevvole. ...more

(second and final book of a Duology in the Grishaverse)
It's been some years since I read the original trilogy, the first books in the Grishaverse, and I only picked it up because I had the audiobook. Well, it was a pleasant surprise: a solid, good fantasy book, with a consistent world building and a set of well drawn characters. The plot is intriguing and it has a satisfying end while leaving something unresolved for the next book. I've quite enjoyed it and I'll start reading the sequel soon.

(final book of the Series)
I've waited several years to begin this series and now I've picked it up with some trepidation and not few expectations that were totally satisfied by the series: good world building, an intriguing story and amazing (and cherished) characters. It's a six book series, but it doesn't feel too long or stretched like so many other series with more than three books. Sullivan really can write and like the always he is able to create something that is like a classic high fantasy but without a dusty feel about it: epic but fun, serious and light at the same time, tragic but often comic.

(second book out of three in the Series)
I've loved all of Rachel Aaron's works I've read and I really like the world she has built. This series is less brilliant than the previous ones and the protagonist, Lola, is not as great as Eli Monpress, Opal and our favourite dragon; sadly even the DFZ Spirit, who is an amazing character in this world, is quite absent even if the story is totally set in the DFZ. In the second book the story is more catching, however I'm not going to give it more than three and half star. I'll follow up to see the end, hoping for a more interesting DFZ book in the future. ...more

I' don't have a self for this book that is the story of Cassandra Penelope Dankworth told by herself. Cassandra is not what you'd call totally normal but she is trying to live a normal life... and failing. But maybe she can go back in time, to... fail in a more spectacular way! Or not? Not your average novel (sure thing, not my average book!) but a great book about discovering yourself and becoming what you're meant to be. Beautifully written and beautifully told by the speaker of the Italian edition of the audiobook.

(a stand-alone novel)
This novel by the Nobel Prized Kazuo Ishiguro is set in an alternate reality of which we glimpse very little from the eyes of the characters. It's a story that reminded me of the Unwind Distology by Neal Shusterman and it is a story that let you see a world in which humanity has lost something important about itself. But unlike Shusterman book, here there is too little to distinguish between right and wrong and the story take place in a moral vacuity that while it could make you think mostly it leaves you empty. And sad. It is, however, a beautifully written book.
I'm not positive about recommending this book, sorely not to young readers.

The writing style is brilliant and character development is quite good. I'll come back for the next book by the author!

I enjoyed this book and the entire series. The story in the second book felt like it didn't have the same originality as the first book and so I was expecting more of the same in this final book, but I found much more in it with a really interesting story I didn't expect. Wonderful! The story has some amazing twists and is told with a brilliant writing style, even if, maybe, in this book there was too much introspection than I would have liked. But I liked this series from beginning to end and I'm sure going to come back for more by Holly Jackson.

After the TV series, this book is been hyped maybe more than is worth, even if second and third book are better than the first. There is too much introspection and the result is that the story goes on very slowly, with to many pages dedicated to the thought of some character or other. The characters, while living, on ad off, for thousand of years are not the real protagonists of the story: humanity is (maybe). Some good things, some bad things, more boring things. Like I said the story is more intriguing than in the first book, but it really doesn't seem to me easy to read.

It's my first John Mars thriller and by its rating and reviews I was expecting something more. The concept is original and interesting, but I didn't really care for the choice of characters the author made: they're really shallow people all of them, and I couldn't develop a connection to any of them.
