✅ THERE ARE 3 POVS and I normally hate multi-POV books but I was so in love with each perspective here. I didn't have a favorite and I was so excited for each new chapter to start
✅ AEFE WAS A NEW POV we got introduced to and her storyline was amazing! It felt a little out of place and jarring at first, but it expanded the world and the plot so much. Her storyline was so exciting and I was so shocked at how everything connected in the end

✅ THIS BOOK FELT MORE like an epic fantasy adventure than the first because our characters left the safety of the castle and were on their way to a war front, having to face enemies on multiple sides
I don't even know where to start with this review. Did I love every single chapter in this book? No, definitely not. But did I love the overall book? I don't even know where to start with this review. Did I love every single chapter in this book? No, definitely not. But did I love the overall book? YES OMG SO MUCH! ❤️
⚠️ I tried to make this spoiler free, but there are some references to the direction the story will take ⚠️
❌ THERE WAS A LULL FROM the 20-50% mark that had me a little bored. It was mostly just the group traveling from place to place and having repetitive conversations. I'm not going to lie, I skimmed quite a bit during these bits and I don't feel like I missed out on anything
✅ FIRST OFF, CAN I JUST SAY that Poppy and Casteel are 100% couple goals. Like holy shit, they are perfect in almost every single way. I'm so happy there was not more relationship drama thrown in to this book and they were just allowed to be happy and perfect together.
✅ THE STEAM DID NOT DISAPPOINT! Can we just appreciate the fact that it's book 3 and I'm somehow still not tired of their sex scenes together? Sure, some of it became repetitive (I mean how many walls can these two really have sex against?!) but I will take everything I can get!

This was a quick read and exactly what I was looking for. I can't think of anything wrong with the book at the moment, so it's definitely getting five stars from me.
I usually don't read books where the MC has children, but I thought the fact that Phoebe, a recent widower, had two young sons added a unique flavor to the romance. It was so sweet seeing West interact with the kids and I thought the conversations with the kids were actually pretty funny - kids can be so blunt sometimes!
West was also a very likable love interest - definitely a favorite out of recent books I've read.
He had a real job with real responsibilities and was willing to help Phoebe with her estate's accounting and the land she inherited from her widow. The author did a great job of "showing not telling" how the other employees on the estate respected him as a boss.
I also appreciated that his characterization didn't revolve entirely around him being a "corrupt and spoiled rake" who was reformed by some new love, which is a cliche much too prevalent in this genre. He was not overly possessive, which was refreshing because a lot of romance novel love interests can be too domineering for my tastes.
Overall, the romance was well paced. There was enough of a slow burn that it didn't feel *too much* like instalust. Even though it still felt somewhat like love at first site, it took a while for their physical relationship to develop.
W O W ! I could not put this book down. It was so good. This is exactly the type of high school drama that I'm still able to enjoy W O W ! I could not put this book down. It was so good. This is exactly the type of high school drama that I'm still able to enjoy ...more

This is still one of my favorite romance novels everrr. There are no words that can convey how much I love both Brenna and RE-READ | DECEMBER 2020
This is still one of my favorite romance novels everrr. There are no words that can convey how much I love both Brenna and Jake as individual characters... and when they eventually get together... it's just soo good

I highly recommend this to anyone looking for a contemporary swoon-worthy romance with the ultimate power couple
CONS ⇢ Literally the only con is how much page time Rupi and Hollis have. I don't give a damn about their relationship - give me more Brenna and Jakey!
PROS ⇢ A+ characters. Both Brenna and Jake are so confident in themselves and it's refreshing to read about a female character that is so strong and knows exactly what she wants. And even though Jake is definitely confident, he's still so sweet and supports Brenna during her rough moments ⇢ Instalust that was done right! So both Brenna and Jake know they are hot af and could basically get anyone they want. So what ensues is them teasing each other relentlessly until they finally give in to their attraction ...more
I’ve been in a book rut for such a long time and this was the perfect NA fantasy romance novel to get me ouWowza! This book was exactly what I needed!
I’ve been in a book rut for such a long time and this was the perfect NA fantasy romance novel to get me out of it. The fact that I found this book 90% predictable but still enjoyed it speaks volumes. It had a little too much inner monologue for me (which I ended up skimming over a lot tbh), but the romance, characters and overall plot were great. I also felt like the inexperienced/innocent girl trope was done very well and felt realistic in this book. I thought Hawke was a great love interest and I loved all of the scenes between Poppy and Hawke. I did feel like what Hawke announced on the last page of the book seemed a little strange - but I’m not going to complain about it because I love them together.
But I NEED to know what happens next! I’m so sad that it will likely be a long wait until book #2 ...more

- A leading couple that is super cute and adorable, but didn’t feel super cliche. I think it helped that it was M/M because there wasn’t the typical female lead archetype that you see in a large majority of romance novels. - Funny and lovable supporting characters that you become invested in. - Crude and hilarious dialogue that felt like real conversations I would have with my own friends (including equally crude and hilarious flirtation). - Some political intrigue that added to the romance (although I could see how this part might be a little confusing if you’re not from the US). I love it when a book isn’t 100% about the romance. - A hate to love romance. - The perfect amount of description and emotion in the sex scenes. The scenes are written so that it’s super clear what’s happening but without all the cliche and overused phrases you normally read. Sometimes I think having less is more when it comes to these scenes. - A super fluffy and happily-ever-after ending ...more

This book was a lot longer than the others, but I didn’t feel like it contained unnecessary fluff that could have been taken out. So much happened in this finale and it was absolutely perfect! The ending was somewhat bittersweet, but it’s kind of refreshing to see an author not force the perfect happily ever after. Although I desperately wanted to see Ash and Piper together and happy (because they are just so cute together!) I think the ending works because they both care so much about their own respective worlds.
I also loved how we got to learn so much more about Lyre. He’s such an interesting character and I’m super excited that he has his own spin off series!...more

4/5 stars. This was such a fun and enjoyable book to read. I did not find it quite as "horrific" as the descriptions/reviews make it out to be, but I 4/5 stars. This was such a fun and enjoyable book to read. I did not find it quite as "horrific" as the descriptions/reviews make it out to be, but I also may be a bit older than the target audience. I have not read in the mystery genre in quite some time, but I may have to start looking into it again!
Even though it was fairly obvious who the killer was, the witty dialogue between Audrey Rose and Thomas completely made up for that fact. I typically enjoy more *heat* in my romances, but their shameless flirtation and banter was so enjoyable to read that I didn't mind the lack of a physical component in their relationship!...more
