isaiah and kenny were a great couple, and the marriage of convenience trope suited them so well. loved seeing kenny warm up to isaiah and the other characters, and isaiah find strategies to help his anxiety. both of their struggles were so incredibly realistic!...more

you know what i’ve realized? some authors think being an fboy is a legitimate personality trait. it is not!
okay, i want to preface this by saying thayou know what i’ve realized? some authors think being an fboy is a legitimate personality trait. it is not!
okay, i want to preface this by saying that this book was fun. i had fun reading it! but i do have my complaints. so. let’s get into it.
first, the mmc. my biggest problem. carter was so immature. and i get that it was done in a way that was supposed to be endearing, but i unfortunately just found it childish. honestly, me from even like 2 years ago probably would’ve liked carter a lot more, but in these past few years, i’m afraid my tolerance of idiotic men has just shot straight down. men in general, really. and carter just reallyyyy annoyed me.
did he have his redeeming qualities? sure. but i was just constantly irritated with him, to the point where those good qualities didn’t do much.
on the other hand, i did like olivia. she was a fun fmc! definitely made up for carter in some ways.
overall, this book was also just a little long. it dragged a bit too much for me.
i’m not a pregnancy trope hater, but it’s not always my favourite trope because i don’t like when it feels like the coupregnancy trope done RIGHT fr.
i’m not a pregnancy trope hater, but it’s not always my favourite trope because i don’t like when it feels like the couple are only together because of the pregnancy, but this book did a great job of counteracting that. the couple was so great and i didn’t expect to love them as much as i did!
also so exited for beau’s book, i can’t wait until october omg
i really liked this! i’m all for that unrequited love / friends to lovers combo and it worked so well here. i really liked both sloane and jasper, andi really liked this! i’m all for that unrequited love / friends to lovers combo and it worked so well here. i really liked both sloane and jasper, and was surprised by how attached i grew to them considering we hadn’t seen much of them in the previous books.
the only thing i don’t know how i feel about is the beau going missing plotline… i’m kind of confused about why it was needed?? unless its going to become relevant for his book because of PTSD, it really felt like it was kind of thrown in here for shock value or something. but overall, really enjoyed this!
i enjoyed this a lot more than book one. i think i really just liked the characters a lot more. both willa, cade, and of cousingle dad trope SUPREMACY
i enjoyed this a lot more than book one. i think i really just liked the characters a lot more. both willa, cade, and of course, luke. the little kids in single parent trope books are always soooo cute.
lots of cute and heartwarming scenes, honestly, the only thing that i wanted to be different was for the romance to be a bit more of a slow burn. i think it would've suited this couple! (and also i just really love slow burns. lol) also, for cade to stop acting like he was 70. you are 38!!! not a senior citizen!!! pls!!!
only olive blake can make such a short story feel so rich. only reason this isn’t rated higher is because the fae story one: stone’s throw - 3.5 stars
only olive blake can make such a short story feel so rich. only reason this isn’t rated higher is because the fae (in the traditional sense, not the watered down versions in fantasy romances) freak me out lol. okay not entirely but that may have contributed
story two: saints and liars - 4 stars
this was so cute. i will never not enjoy reading about witch families, and specially, the youngest witches of two witch families falling in love. it always hits.
story three: the golden age of monsters - 4.5 stars
the stories in this anthology really do just keep getting better because this was so good! such a fun premise and i mean, anything with greek mythology in it is an immediate yes from me.
story four: pars fortuna - 4 stars
such a cool premise, how does she think of these things?!?! unfortunately though, sam just wasn’t my favourite. i know people grow and all (and he did ofc), but him saying that he had never voted just turned me off immediately i’m sorry
story five: the immortality project - 3 stars
i liked the idea behind this one but the execution was a little confusing. i think this would have made more sense if some of the narration was more traditional rather than the main character’s documentation for her lawyer.
