I was pulled into the story from the very first chapter and loved it so much that I was sad when I finished it. I’m ready for a sequel! It was the perfect combination of spooky, mystery and romance. The creepy Kavanagh house, with its puzzles and secrets, was vivid and real and made me wish I could go check it out in person. The story was so beautifully written that the scenes seemed to play out in front of me. There is so much to like about the main character, Parker. She’s smart and brave with a huge heart. She makes you want to team up with her to figure out the secrets locked inside the haunted house. And all the twists throughout the story kept me guessing at every turn. It’s the kind of book that whisks you into a whole other world. I highly recommend this book for both teens and adults. But beware of reading it at night. Angela is like kind, good and sympathetic, which makes her a very likable heroine. The relationship with her best friend and the bond she creates with the hypnotist are a highlight. I love stories with powerful female friendships! The love story, while a smaller part of the plot, is sweet and heartwarming. Matthew is strong, admirable, and caring, and I found myself cheering for them to end up together.
