The heroine, Ari... what to say? I was sorry for her and the life she had with her psychopathic father, but she was soooo meek and weak!!!
The hero, Hugo, is a young officer who, when everybody else is killed by the said Ari's psychopathic father, take the place of captain. But he's very young and doubts his ability to act as captain in a very critical situation.
I don't know why Hugo's fallen for Ari. There was some attempt by the author to explain both Air's meekness and Hugo's attraction to her, but for me it was very, very lame...
The most interesting part was when the other ships come into the story and acted with all together to save the ship and all the civilians on it.
I'm really, really sorry to rate this only 3 stars, but I couldn't connect with both MCs... Even the supposedly hot moments, that I enjoyed in the previous books and tension breakers, here were awkward and I almost felt like a perv watching dirty porn. I just couldn't think that such a person as Ari would act in a certain way (aggressive) or that Hugo would have been turn on by her then when two pages before she was trmbling in fear!
Still, I'm sorry that the author will not write any more books in this unverse! I would have liked to read what happens when they get on New Earth!...more

I understand that she's forced, that she's almost a prisoner and therefore she rebels, but her actions and reaction were too abrupt and almost without reason.
On the other side, I did like the overall feel of the novel. I could immagine the situations and the country.
Also, I couldn't understand Rand's reasons for loving Noelle. To me it seemed that his only reason was her beauty. And for me that's not reason enough.

Sophia is not a likeable heroine IMHO. She's to pround of her Talent and her being an Extraordinary that she becomes TSTL. And I don't appreciate that! She's convinced that because she's an Extraordinary she's inevitably right and treats badly even her best friend Cecy, throws a temper tantrum, leaves the room slamming the door... A bad behaved 13 years old!
The action is all in her head. She Dreams and have Visions where she discovers bits and pieces of the mystery, but compared to the real life action is boring...
The hero, Mr. Rutledge (and she thinks of him like that through the whole book!!!) is a meh hero. He's supposedy a spy who travelled the world, but he's so bland and meak that I couldn't consider him a hero!!!
The villain is bland also. Lord Endicott is a forger and, when Sophia had a Dream of him embezzling during the war in Portugal, he made the War Council doubt her visions and dreams and made her dismissed. So Sophia resents him very stroongly and wants revenge. That's the extent to his perfidy... thwarting her at every turn wherever he meets her... Mah...
The romancing part is non-existant. Only in the last few pages there's somewhat rushed romance. During the rest she tries to push Mr. Rutledge away for her own imagined grievances and not for any real reason. Even in that department she's full of herself even when an intelligent human being would ask for help...
So, I'm deeply sorry to say that this book doen't deserve more than 2 1/2 stars rounded to 3...

Sophia, the daughter od the inventor of all AIs, first officer on board of Corvus must take the lead. Unfortunately, she's not considered able by all on board, starting with her fellows officers and ending with the slime major.
She will have to fight both the aggressive Aquila, the slowly recovering AI, and will have to conquer her leadership! A lot of things to do!
Fortunetly for her, not everybody is against her. Leo Saito, the scientific officer is on her side.
The AI is a surprise too! Contrary to the other AIs we've met in the previous books, this one chooses to evolve as female! Mostly because of Sophia and her courage and strenght! Corvus is hilarious, even if she often acts like a hormonal teenager!
Saito is a fantastic beta hero: supportive, intelligent and submissive. I liked that he was the perfect partner for Sophia in everything, even in bed! LOL
Sophia was a much harder to like heroine. She's almost too strong and cold, but I like that the author was able to show us and to explain why she's that way. Still I admired her will not to succumb and fold under all the pressure she was put in. She was able to overcome in an intelligent way everything that was thrown on her.
The suspenseful moments abound, the hot one too, but there're also a lot of fun moments just right to lighten the story, due mostly with the AI Corvus!
The ending is cliffy though and I would advise to wait having the last book before starting this one!

I'm not overly fond of lie trope, but here the heroine told it for a worng reason. I understand that Grace is afraid, but why keep telling the same lie when you met the hero and undersatood that he was not the beast?
And keeping it for such a long time?
I could also understand Tor's anger when he discovers it.
But I liked that she understood it too and din't act like an upset idiot.
Apart from this, the story was nice and I liked it! 3,5 stars rounded to 4!

I've read the book in almost one sitting! Or, better I devoured it! It was just like watching a Star Treck movie: thrilling!
Here Nove is not the heroine, even if she and Ty make their appearance. Here the story is about their daughter Cyann. I'd say that the shift on next generation was great! I enjoyed it very, very much! Loved Cyann - she's great and I hope that she's be as good as Nova in the future! I felt how young she is, how insecure about her status as the only half-Delphian. I loved the fact the she's insecure. That she doesn't know her potential.
Also Ty’s son, Kiran is here! I was always curious to know what happened to him. Here Cyann gets a “connection” with Kiran and she goes in search for him. The situation id dire and she must find him. When she does find him it was very touching. Kiran is a wreck, he’s loosing his mind. He’s Tughan Wai, a super-being, a creature whose mind has very destructive powers, but he’s also a young man who’s battling his Tughan Wai nature… Cyann helps him. It was very nicely done: you could feel her attachment to her half-brother and her will to save him. Kiran too is attached to her – has always been. In his moments of lucidity he also tries to help her. Since her insecurity about her position in the world is plaguing her his reasoning about that helps her a lot! I loved how Kiran tells her that she's a species apart from all the rest. :D
Another character from the last book is the main character here: Jovan. I loved Jovi too. But I loved him since the last book, so it's not a novelty! *wink* Here he’s all grown up and his pledge to Cyann is forcing him to hide his real feelings. Obviously his unable to do it, since Cyann is pushing all his buttons! :D He’s trying to be very Delphian, but his time spent in the Academy changed him and his view of the world. He’s still very much a Shantir and respects their ways, but he’s also much more!
A very good book and very nice to read about the future generation! Great job! :D

Zoe, is a hoot!!! She has some ideas that made me laugh out loud! She’s kidnapped by weird looking aliens and should be terrified. And she is, but her brain functions in a laugh-instead-of crying way.
The descriptions of aliens are incredible: we have a three tentacle eyed Bambi, a poo shaped centipedes, a lantern looking A.I. named Alfred by her… You get it? LMAOOO
Also her reactions are fun. Stupid, maybe, but still fun! I usually hate TSTL heroines, but here I laughed! Even when the situations were deadly!!! Incredible!!!
I loved the descriptions of food-generator!!! [image] … what did you expect to come out of the pot full of green-goo? [image]
The hero, Sarden, is the horned hunk (and you know how much I love by blue-horned barbarians!!!) with red skin and golden eyes! Yummy! But for all his trying to be a bad kidnapper, he comes out as a very sweet guy!
I thought, being this Ms. Anderson’s book, that here would be a ton of sex, but instead I found a ton of innuendos, some nude scenes, some licking for the purpose of healing, but not even a kiss until well over the half part of the book!!! And I loved that! I loved it very, very much!
Then the author dropped reference to my favorite TV series!!! And I was won!!!
Zoe is seeing herself as the Mother of Dragons!!!

This is and is not a classic alien abduction romance. But you should read it as a parody comic movie, like the famous Airplane!, or The Naked Gun!
