I gave it 5 stars which is why I'm shocked to have to give this book from the same universe 1 star.
The story was all over the place and was very confusing to me. There were too many characters that only showed up for a couple of pages each. The art was no where near as good as the Wolverine book. The story mainly focuses on the characters Jean Grey and Angel, neither of whom are my favorite members of the X-Men, but I wanted to give this a shot anyways because I love X-Men as a whole. Even Wolverine (my favorite superhero) showing up couldn't save this book for me.
However, I will read some more Marvel Noir books in hopes of finding another gem....more

A graphic novel adaptation is a great way to show what the heck the author was talking about in a more digestible way. I had only heard of this story's title before. I knew nothing about what was going to happen other than a scientific research team goes to Antarctica and finds something unusual. I genuinely gasped out loud at some of the reveals in this book, and couldn't put it down once I started.
I highly recommend this to anyone who wants to get into Lovecraft. I'll be checking out the author's other works as well....more

It has really unique and surreal plot points I've never seen before. But I end up skipping over most of the dialogue and day-to-day interactions with the characters because I just don't really care about them. It's a weird mix of a young adult book with adult themes thrown in when you aren't expecting them. I'll probably read the next in the series to see where it goes....more

I had seen the TV series pop up while scrolling through Netflix, and ignored it because it's clearly a young adult fantasy show which I have zero interest in. Although I had heard of the graphic novels, I didn't realize until recently that they were written by Joe Hill, so I thought I would give it a shot.
This book is much darker and more violent than I was expecting, which is a good thing. I think it's right on the borderline of being categorized as young adult over adult. Judging by the ending I'm assuming the next book will have more teen angst stuff that normally comes along with YA stuff, and is what turns me off from reading YA in general.
The art is fantastic, and the panels and text flowed really well. I'll continue reading the series....more
