I really wanted to finish this series and love it as I did with the first series. I was getting less enthusiastic after struggling through book two. This book gave me the same experience I had with book two. I just couldn't get into the story, and it felt like a chore every time I picked it up. I read a bit over 100 pages over two days and I was already looking forward to finishing it and picking up the next book and I thought to myself, why should I push through something I am not very excited about just to finish a series I will probably forget soon. So, I took the decision to DNF the book and thus the series and I am feeling no regrets right now. I picked a different book and read almost 100 pages in one sitting so I know it is not a reading slump to blame.
From other reviews I have seen, this is even slower than the previous books and the action happens toward the end, and I currently have no energy for that. I know from experience that it will end up being a 3 stars rating if I ever finish it but because I did not make it to 50% of the book, I am not gonna shelf it as read and not gonna give it a rating. I think that's my way of being fair to the author. ...more

★ I am going to be honest here, It is my fault that I requested an ARC of this, I take full responsibility for that. The truth is that almost DNF @10%
★ I am going to be honest here, It is my fault that I requested an ARC of this, I take full responsibility for that. The truth is that almost all my friends loved book 1 and I requested this while barely reading a few pages of book 1. I wanted the motivation to read the book and having book 2 always help me to do that.
★ But the truth is that I found that book 1 is good but the writing style is not for me, I think it is a bit dense (subjectively speaking) and this is really an unpopular opinion. I have to concentrate very much to understand what I am reading and when I do that I enjoy it but I can't do that for more than a few paragraphs. I think that defeats the purpose because it makes it more like a chore than fun for me.
★ The book started with an awesome prologue and I decided that I will give it a chance, but soon it was my experience with book 1 all over again. I decided that I am not going to continue this series for now and I wish nothing but the best for the author as he seems like a very nice person.
★ I am not going to give this a rating because I don't want to negatively rate a book for a mistake that I made!!! I think you should take this review with a grain of salt and focus on the positive reviews because there are way more of those! If you read this or book 1, I really hope you like them and happy reading :D

The reviews from people who I trust have not been encouraging and it has been ages since I read the original trilogy. I rarely read YA books now compared to last year or the year before that. I just don't want to force myself to read soemthing I don't think I will enjoy only to give it a negative review. If anyone thinks this was superb or worth reading please do tell!
Original question: While it does look good, why doesn't it match the other covers?...more

After finishing the first book which I thought was a standalone, I was surprised to know it has a sequel and since book 1 was okay, I said I can continue the duology, no problem! Then the duology became a trilogy and that is one of my bookish pet peeves! I also can't help but think this is a recycled version of X-Men with the Helmet, the boy who removes abilities and other things...
If I am going to read this then it is going to be hate reading and the book is huge and life is too short for that and that's why I am not gonna finish it and just ask my friend to spoil it for me......more

I can't currently continue the series as I feel I won't be fair to it and because I forgot almost everything in book 1. Also his writing gets more on my nerve now more than it makes me happy!!

So, I really wanted to like this but I just... can't! That is actually another one of this year goals: to drop these books that I am not into.
