Small town is my absolute favorite trope to read in the romance genre. Add in that Haley and Trevor are total opposites and this has all the makings of a five-star read for me! I loved Haley’s character and her belief in love and found her to be super relatable. Overall, I love this book and hope this series never ends!...more

The book starts out with plenty of action and a tragic loss, setting up Edie's battle for the rest of the series. Edie tries to take on the new (and unexpected role of The Haker (think Buffy with Slayer duties) as well as deal with the horrible loss of her sister...and is fighting a deadly vampire virus at the same time.
The odds are stacked against her, and Edie knows her chance at survival-and saving her remaining family-is slim to none. With the help of unlikely allies (including a hot vampire and maybe a forbidden love) she kicks ass and keeps fighting.
I loved every page of this book. It's a definite must read for fans of True Blood! Five fang-tactic stars from me! ...more

The book is told through Cory's POV, and starts with her running along roof tops in NYC. Cory is the "bad guy" in this series, which is a nice breath of fresh air from the typical innocent main characters. She's had issues with authority her whole life and makes a living stealing and getting a cut of the re-sales. On a job she literally run into Van, a rich photographer.
Van is a nice guy through and through, believing in the best in people and is surprisingly optimistic. His good-guy personality is a good match for Cory's rough exterior, and they are drawn to each other right away. Without giving too much away, I'll just say Cory's relationship with Van ignites faster than she expected and comes with a lot of complications. You'll need to read part two and three to know how this one ends! I'll be grabbing Hardcore II as soon as it comes out! ...more

We read a chapter every night and I found myself wanting to read more even after she fell asleep. Jacob is just your average kid-literally. He's not good or bad at anything, just average. He's easy to overlook and easily blends into the crowd. Jacob has twin older siblings: Thea who is defiant and mouthy and Theo who is perfect at everything. After his mom announces she is pregnant, weird things start happening. I don't want to give anything away, but one of Jacob's siblings are not what they seem.
Jacob then realizes that the weight of the world rests on his shoulders and it's up to him, with the help of his family and best friend Max, to save Earth.
I love this book. It was cute and suspenseful at the same time. Hayes has a way with world building and this book played out in my mind like a movie as I read it. It has a perfect balance of action and humor and I loved the characters. Jacob starts out "incredibly average" but rises above that and proves to be pretty incredible himself. I can't say much more without giving anything away.
This is a great book not only for kids, but for adults too. I will definitely be reading more by this author! ...more
